on a side note loved the look of kent in that highlight reel of hogan's, shame he was injured so early, if he gets a full crack this season he could have a breakout year.

was just noticing that. Kent was involved in a lot of the plays early that led to Hogan's goals. No wonder he loves playing with him so much.

That is one hell of a highlight reel.

Sign him for a decade, right now.

Loved every second of that.

You've gotta love the way Jon Ralph sinks the boot in:

"It is a measure of Melbourne’s dependence on their marquee player that they would devote such energy so early to locking him away."

Right. When the Dogs pay $1m for Boyd, the Swans pay $10m for Buddy, the Saints take McCarton at 1, talls like Carlisle and MCarthy and Cameron are being offered huge salaries yeah why would you want to lock away a gun key forward like Jesse.

Jon Ralph is an Ess f.log.

I just saw that Jesse has entered into discussion with the club 2 years early about an extension on his contract. Imagine if we could lock him away for 6 more years?
Better than that, it would stick it up Dwayne Russell!

Geez, Colin.

Sticking it up Duhwayne would be more crucial than getting a long term contract extension with Hogan?

Mate, I hate the pelican too, but come on...

I was being a little facetious (it's hard to tell on a forum sometimes) but clearly getting Jesse for the long term would be the best outcome of all.

Having Russell look like a goose would be a nice little kicker.

Nothing required here Col.

What it does show us is how much Hogan and his management are being bothered by constant speculation and harassment from riff raff.

Blokes like Ralph and Russell are not ingenuous enough to drum up their own news so they get somebody to read Demonland because they can't read.

They are only "copyboys" in the jargon. They also get very peeved if their Clubs are mentioned in the same sentences as ASADA, WADA, falling asleep on the ground

and running into the boundary fence on purpose, you get it....

Thread has been pruned to remove the juvenile innuendo posted about some of our female players.

It's a shame that these types of schoolboy antics still exist at a time when the women's game, and particularly the MFC's prominent role in developing it, is really kicking goals.

For those of you who think it's all harmless fun and political correctness gone mad, imagine it's your daughter or sister whose picture was being drooled over, and see how that stacks up for you.

But it's OK to get a boner over Hogan? Get some perspective.

You may have the same light hearted position when you attached photos of a teenager playing in the women's game but you would have to see where the uneasiness is coming from?

On this site multiple semi nude footballers have been posted and lewd comments made. When I posted the photos ( that appeared in The Age & the Herald Sun ) I did make a reference that in hindsight may be seen in poor taste. I removed the photos and the comment. I did not know Tayla was 17 at the time one of the photos was taken.

So I can see the uneasiness but it is one sided and therefore sexist.

Minors should not be exploited and I did not believe that I was doing that. Would I make the same comment about a male footballer? Yes. Would I make it about a teenage footballer? Probably not.

I think this site should be fair and balanced. In future I expect any similar reference to teenage footballers be treated with the same zealous censorship. Any mention of boners promptly removed.

Sorry to anyone that may have been offended that was not my intention, it was an attempt at humour.

ManDee - If you feel that this was not moderated properly, remember that the mods are just Dees fans like you and me and that the site is run and owned by Dees fans like you and me, and that they can be held liable for things posted on here by Dees fans like you and me.

Every site that lasts has overly sensitive moderators.

But it's OK to get a boner over Hogan? Get some perspective.

Mods are going to have a hell of a time going back through all the sexually suggestive posts directed at Hogan.

I believe he was underage at the time some of them were made as well.

Normally I stand with the mods, but on this one I reckon they've over-reacted.

I've posted actual fapping gifs in response to Hogan that weren't moderated. Your post was tame by comparison. The only difference was yours was in reference to a 17 year old girl, mine was in reference to a 17 year old boy.

Hell, yesterday RPFC (I think it was him) posted a gif of Bill Shatner clearly saying "WTF" that wasn't moderated. I'd argue that post was a clearer violation of the posting rules than ManDee's post.

Support what the mods have done here. No need to debate he said, she said issues. It's done, move one.

It's perfectly possible to express appreciation of posts and player's physical prowess without resorting to pubescent sexual innuendo and references to 'boners'.

There are thousands of other perjoratives in the dictionary, try looking some up. It might increase your vocabulary, make you better writers and develop your frontal lobes a little.

Yeah but pubescent sexual innuendo is so much more fun.

iv'a my problem here is the double standard. I am happy with the level of censorship providing it is consistent.

The photos have been published in The Age and The Herald Sun so I presume that they meet societies level of probity.

So if this site has higher standards so be it, but let it apply to males and females equally.

I don't think it was the photos in themselves that caused the problem, rather it was the comment/s which were attributed to them. The banal line of defence by some - and I don't mean you - that we are being too PC is just ridiculous and does not bear any proper scrutiny. Women have not just suffered in modern history, but for aeons. It is not pc to attempt to remove what has been endemic and intrinsic in a male dominated world since time immemorial. Anyway MD, as I said above, it's done, let's move on and get on with talking about what it will take to make the Dees great again.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
