If we were to sign him up to an extension at the end of the year as it was alluded to in the HUN article, well, I think I would shed tears of joy, excitement and relief.

Tom Pretoro from Jesse's management company was just interviewed on SEN and said they will sit down with the Dees during the summer to discuss his contract.

He went on to say that 'Jesse will be part of Melbourne's future for a long time to come.'

Almost form the horse's mouth!

Lets just hope his manager isn't full of horse shite like the other managers generally are.

Dear Melbourne, please give him whatever he wants.... money, cars, houses, prostitutes, the world. Just give it to him, lock him away for 20 years and lets all move on.

No he didn't, why twist what he said?!

He said "Jesse is a huge part of Melbourne's future", which is very different.

I wish he'd said what you claimed but it's not true. People find strange ways to help them sleep at night...

Same thing.

Quite different. Saying he is a big part of the future could mean anything really... 'the future' is contained within his current contract.

Saying that he will be at the club for a long time to come is another thing altogether and insinuates that he'll be signing a long term contract.

Anyway, Paul said to look for the positives, so I'm taking this to mean he'll be signing a 7 year extension.

Ugh great. That is completely different and stating the damn obvious

I suppose sitting down with us is a good start.

It's not at all, never did he say anything remotely as strong as "Jesse will be a part of Melbourne's future for a long time to come".

Maybe I'm just choosing to see it that way. ;)

I don't blame you mate we all have our different coping mechanisms as Melbourne supporters!

Just thought I'd report what was actually said rather than what was said in all our dreams.

I went back and listened to the SEN recording and to some extent 'Members Wing' is correct but it needs to be put in full context of the discussion:-

The Ox asked Petroro: whether they are negotiating with Melbourne to get a long extension or a multi year contract...for Jesse? Petroro's (not quite verbatim) response was: ...we will sit down over the summer and start a discussion...Jesse is really happy in Melbourne...when the time is right both parties will sit down and start to look towards Jesse's future...but he is obviously a huge part of Melbourne's future.

So in the context of the question, the response to me meant the next contract will keep Jesse with us 'for a long time to come' but to be fair Petroro didn't use those words. You can form your own view at the 12 min mark: http://www.sen.com.au/programs/the-run-home

There seemed little doubt that there will be a contract extension negotiated over the summer.

Jesse is contracted till 2017 so even a 'short' extension eg 3 years will keep Jesse a Demon till 2020.

That's a long time to me and I would be very happy with that sort of contract extension.

He also confirmed he wasn't personally looking after Hogan.

Despite the incorrect reporting of what was actually said, and I agree the lily was gilded, I'd be very surprised if Hogan doesn't extend over summer.

It's the contract after that will be telling.

If the club can't sort it self out by 2020 and win a flag I couldn't care less if Hogan left in 2021..

meh, i stopped caring about what Garry thinks/says years ago when he rolled into the club with designer sunnies on and lead the charge with a contingent of media following him, to "save us."

Albeit it, i do agree with him on this point.

I'll give you 50-1 we don't win a flag by 2020, that is madness

Some of those marks today were just unfair.

44 goals in his debut season and a presence that just about every other forward can only ever dream of. And hes only 20.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
