How does that effect his ability to hold a mark when it hits his hands?

It's just confidence, Jesse has struggled in a couple of games to hold some marks (although he makes up for it in other ways) Dawes just needs to know he has to work harder if he wants to play alongside Jesse, I reckon he will pull his finger out at some point.

Dawes has never been a good contested grab. Dawes at his best as a hit up forward. His work ethic to lead and lead again was very good. That has been absent. He has been stagnant and without movement he becomes a contested mark/body on body forward and that has never been his go. He was 100% right in what he said he needed to do to exploit Frawley and then proceeded not to do what he said he would do - that was exploit Frawleys lack of match fitness by running him around. You are right in saying that Hogan has struggled in a couple of games to hold marks and correctly identified that he makes up for it in other ways. Dawes has two strings to his bow - at his best he is good leading forward and he brings a lot of pressure to the forward line ( tackling/blocking/harrassing). At the moment he is only doing the pressure acts and that's just not enough.

One is a premiership player playing with a calf injury, the other couldn't get a game till two weeks ago and has performed well for 2 weeks. lets keep this in perspective. Pederson is about the slowest bloke on our list as well.

One is kicking goals and marking the ball in the forward line and the other isn't.

I have no idea how long Pedersens form will hold or how long Dawes slump in form will continue. Today and now - it is a no contest - you would pick Pedersen.

You can pretty much add the crows entire 97 team to that.

Dawes needs to play a role, at the moment his role is at Casey. Do that well then maybe he can get a recall to the side, at the moment our balance is better with him out of the team.

I actually mean Pederson, agree in regards to how much Dawes has lost, but i remember in pre-season it seemed Pedo had gone the other way (so thats who i was referring too).

...and at the moment he is not even doing these.

As a leading forward he consistently runs to the wrong places.
