GAME DAY, ROUND 2, 2015

Momentum has swung but if we can stop them from scoring until half-time we're definitely learning how good teams control the game.

Ha Scully.

$cully is a tard.

Really need another goal just to shut this GWS comeback down. We're still a real work in progress, as this quarter shows.

We are really living dangerously at the moment, they are missing their shots other wise it would be a lot closer.

We are so stagnant, need to get running.

Great tackle Jetta

Free kick count is ridiculous

How is it a throw when he handballs, geez the umps are [censored] me.

Chill out. We're two Jesse Hogan goals up thanks to the umps.

Having some real trouble getting past our half forward line for the last 10 minutes.

Great tackle from Jack Watts. I don't think I've ever seen him do that. Course it helped that his opponent went to ground (that's Jack's home territory after all).

So difficult to compliment without the backhander!

ok this is getting annoying now. If they could kick straight it would be a hell of a lot closer, the inside 50 difference is enormous this quarter.

We can't be scared to keep taking the game on and run.

Having said that... BANG. GOAL NEWTON

It only takes one Jones handball to remind me what a star he is.

Newton loves a goal and I love him for it.

NEWTON!!!

Thanks to a Nathan Jones handball into the clear. Shows how useful it is when your captain actually gets a couple of possessions in a game.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
