Newman is a tool. Attack Clark for having depression is ridiculous. Clark has declared himself fit to play, he'll cop it over the fence but he shouldn't have to cop it from players. You wouldn't sledge a player for having any other illness. I doubt anyone is laying in to the several diabetics in the AFL or Tom Lonergan who lost a kidney.

Anyone who attacks Clark on part of depression is a gutless wonder. If you want to criticise his move from Melbourne, the retirement etc then you can but have some class and leave the depression out of it.

FFS can some of you people move on. Aligning yourself with the views of Sam Newman is not a smart idea, this isn't the 1960's.

Garbage. Clark manipulated the system. Roos got rid of him under the no [censored] policy. Zero sympathy

Clark is full of BS & everyone in footy knows it. Whether he had depression or not, he ditched the MFC cause he needed a new environment for dealing with his depression according to the unnamed medical advise he got...... However, he was already back at the MFC rehabbing, using our staff & facilities when he 'got better & started working towards a comeback'. What other life changes have been made? He stayed with the same mrs he got depression with & what do you know, went back to his old profession of AFL player within a few months, all he did for this 'life change to help him deal with depression' was go from a bottom 4 fancy to a top 4 fancy. And he got paid out 90% of his over the top salary for hardly any games with us, including his wage he would have earnt for this year from us!!! He is a spineless weak creep. I'm soo glad he went to the ailing aging cats so he be there for their downward spiral. Meanwhile we can wave to him in the next couple of years as we pass them on the ladder. F u Clark, mentally ill or not, go rot, case closed!

Good riddance & welcome H!!

I agree with this ALTHOUGH I do have a feeling that the MFC was more than happy to move him on. Who knows, maybe he wanted to stay at melbourne and we thought we were better off getting Lumumba rather than keep a injury prone, mentally fragile player... Still hate clark and think his made a bad descion to bring these comments to the public, would have thought someone whos battling depression would rather not be in the spotlight but that backs up suggestions he never had an illness to start with

Why the hell does Demonland even allow Clark threads anymore? It brings out the rednecks and idiots and all the experts on everything from depression, to the integrity of someone they've never met, to what happened on the field on Monday at a game they weren't at...

Eight pages of this rubbish. Rumor threads get consistently closed, as do defamatory ones, but apparently you can say anything and everything about a former player who has depression.

You don't have to read it.

Amazing how a nameless faceless poster on an internet board apparently knows everything about Clark's life, what changes he's made, his medical advice, his contract/payout status.... Who would believe you'd hide in an anonymous forum on the internet rather than writing your factual insights in published media.

Only the despicable Barrett would consider it a good idea to air this whilst leaving out the exact nature of the alleged sledge, something that we still don't know. No good was ever going to come out of making this so public. I will however say that if this comes down to Clark's word vs Lake's, I know who I'll be more inclined to believe, and it ain't Mitch.

But whatever. Life post-Mitch is starting to look pretty rosy so he can do what he likes. We've got the Prince and we just might have the last laugh.

I'd also add in response to WJ that I really can't understand the continued grievances over Scully. I mean really? Still? The kid was barely out of his teens and was asked if he wanted to become a multi-millionaire. He'd have almost been foolish not take it. The "lying to Jimmy" tact doesn't hold much weight with me either. Just get over it for heaven's sake. We've made out like bandits in the Scully scenario.

Like he said, it brings out all of the rednecks and idiots.

Very interesting that Lake has strenuously denied Clark's claims and is purportedly deeply offended and upset by the accusations.

And, lo and behold, suddenly Geelong want the entire situation dropped and aren't pursuing it further.

Have fun with Clark at the Cattery, you flogs. This is just the beginning of his contribution to your culture!

Whatever, Cletus.

The Jurrah threads went on for far too long as well when they should've been hit on the head much earlier.

Great point made by Dermot on Fox tonight. Clark was more than happy a few years ago to dish it out to another player (forget their name, there's a famous GIF of it though), prancing around pretending to be fat.

In short, you dish it out, you get it in return.

Clap clap clap. Someone calling it as it is!

ok, so on the surface it seems that Clarke did the dog act, took us for a ride, grabbed the money and ran, then left us in the dirt.

i think its worth considering that maybe all the talk of "doing whatever we can for Mitch, helping him heal wherever he ends up" was just a cover for us finding a way to ease him out of the club at minimum cost. The guy did have a contract that we could have enforced. We chose not to play hardball, and you have to ask yourself whether that was an act of kindness, or maybe it was just MFC management doing what was in the best interests of the club.

PJ, PR and the rest are professionals. They knew what they were doing when they let him go.

That said, I will be booing the dog just for the heck of it.

Go Dees.

Maybe? Dermot mentioned the player by name but can't remember.

He's been critical of what Clark did to us and didn't seem overly sympathetic again tonight.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
