Lengthy Heeney radio monatage now on... Doubt we will see any polling for the next 30-60minutes

Why did they bother with Heeny? He was injured for too much of the season to win the award.

I mean, he's a damn good player, but still, why waste the time?

How did that spud Tom Boyd get a nomination?

So we all remember he exists I guess?

Edit: Must be so we have a baseline to compare Hogan to. They can show just how good he is :)

I remember when he got nominated, the Ox on SEN was basically pulling the [censored] out of him.

Break for lunch? seriously??

It's hard work counting votes.

Four goals against the Lions including I think a couple of Joe the gooses #superstar

How did that spud Tom Boyd get a nomination?

Cause of the size of his pay cheque!

I'm surprised Eddie McGuire hasn't come out and stated that this is our 'Grand Final'.

Is there a Live feed?

nvm - its on SEN

Amusing to note that several well built security from Chubb security are guarding the big chained box.

For the combined weight of 10 envelopes.......

Lets be honest, if Hogan doesn't win or at least draws 1st, this whole award may as well be thrown out.

Probably guarding it from Jake King.

I just hope awards like these & the Brownlow are won by non midfielders... Can't remember last time a full forward , Blackman or ruck won something ... Too much emphasis on how many possessions etc rather the impact a player has on a game.. Eg full back keeping a forward goalless & how many spoils & marks they take

Judd is putting everyone to sleep, get on with the show

A lot of commentators now talking up a tie. Two chairs setup in the press conference room.

Yep, they've orchestrated a tie I reckon.

Would be typical of the AFL

Then proceed to trial by combat.

as if

Only midfielders win awards, so I think Cripps will win it.

It's a real shame, because for Hogan to kick 44 goals with the amount of inside 50s we had this year is truly something special.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
