But why would you advocate we give up picks in next year's draft which is far, far stronger?

Dude, look who your arguing with!!! Granted I've made the mistake a few times also.......

Your point?

You're missing the point.

You refuse to trade pick 6, but you'll happily trade Gawn, leaving us with only 1 ruckman on the list next year being Jake Spencer! Geez, i know which of the two i'd happily trade first.

yes, for the Right trade I would. To get something/somewhere, you have to give something in return.

For a Prestia I would swap, Medical examination pending. For a part of a Dangerfield trade, I would. For a part of an O'Meara trade I would. For a part of Luke Parker trade I would. For Josh Kennedy I would, but would want they're 3rd pick in return, because of age differences. For Treloar I would but would want GWS 3rd Rnd pick as well.

so yes, all players on our list are tradable for the right price, even Jesse, if we got Fyfe & a young forward or an early 2nd Rnd pick.

So you think we should take a punt on a young kid in the draft instead of a proven gun?

Also I think you time int eh sport will be short if you walk the next time a draft pick goes wrong, happens all the time to all clubs, that is why taking a punt on a kid when a gun is in the offering would be stupid in the extreme.

no, but it depends on the trade deal.

yes I would trade for Pres but not our first pick. GCSuns need some conservative maturity, & of course they want picks for renewal. we do not have to use Pick 6... it can also wait (the trade) til next year.

so I want both, but am prepared to wait it out... as far as walking over a draft pick, we have loused them up with very poor people in charge of recruiting, & our development, & our club culture stunk.

it had nothing to do with which picks we had at our disposal.

......... aggressive trading doesn't mean jumping at any deal going.

Tigers are after Tyson don't like the sound of that.

if they want him, they can pay for him; they're 1st Rnd Pick-12 & a player of our liking.

Why in God's name would Richmond want Tyson?

Anyway, could work out okay.

Prestia to Melbourne

Tyson to Richmond

Ellis to GC

this works OK I think

Prestia is a very good player. I like Ben Kennedy too and the Pies supporters I know rate him. But they're both dwarves and we lack size in our midfield already.

we need variety, we need high quality in all areas. as all clubs do.

Posted

All BS aside, IIRC Richmond were chasing Tyson since the day he was drafted. Not sure how concrete this part is but word was that they had been in Tysons ear all along and he wanted to get to Richmond but they couldn't facilitate a trade. That's when the Dee's jumped in.

I'd be surprised if he wanted to leave Melbourne now though.

not necessarily so. anything can be worked out, if the right deal comes along.

for just that reason, every club will do well in a deep draft. not so in a shallow pool. shallow pool means the early bird gets the worm.

deeper pools fish all season long, as they don't heat up & dry out as quickly in the sunlight... so a good feed can be had by all, then it comes down to development at the clubs.

don't trade your early picks in lean years.

Posted

No 2 ways about it, we are heavily into him, Mahoney confirmed it.

As soon as that contract is up, we will have a serious crack.

and? this year?

is it he is like a rat on a sinking ship, the green seas are always greener on that side? have the Tiges been in his ear over last Summer, Is he disenchanted this year 2015? is he a front runner? is he upset his GWS mates played well & nearly made finals?

how is his mind going Mm?

And one of them has a fairly serious injury, that has stopped him playing for most of the year.

Listed at 186 on MFC site and I reckon that is generous.

I am really surprised that the numbers 186 appear anywhere on the MFC site. The devils number. :-(((

Surely they would crib a bit - 185 or 187!

he still isn't big, he doesn't play any bigger than Viney does.

Vince doesn't play like Glen Archer did, or Wines.

so he plays below his height, you could put it? as does JWatts.

we lack players who hit above their weight.

well you better get off the hops, get onto some vitamins Middy.

Tyson hasn't done anything since mid-late last season IIRC.

is he happy or unhappy middy? are you his manager, or former teammate perhaps ? ?

it is the silly season after all.

Prestia's height should play little part in the discussion. One of the top 5 clearance players in the league when up and going. As if he's not perfect for us. Okay, so he's not 6'4, but who cares if he plays like he does?

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
