I think Trengove needs to mould into a different type of player to make a significant comeback and become an important player for us. With the foot injury he has sustained and the significant pace he has lost and will continue to lose, I think his biggest asset being his marking and ability to spread will be forever hindered by his unfortunate injury. For me, I think Trengove can still make it as a smart inside contestant ball winner/extractor. Hopefully he has done everything right to hit the gym and get his upper body in the best shape it can be and focus on trying to play this brand of footy in which I think he has the capability in doing so.

If his foot is right can't see why he won't get back to his pre injury speed?

If he gets his foot right there is no reason why he won't fulfill his potental.Good footy smarts, strong overhead, nice kick, coachable and determined.

Although he never dominated he was generally a solid player in pretty poor MFC sides. Would be a great addition to the middle or wing/halfback.

If this does happen, and I am sure all (bar one or two) dearly hope he does make a successful comeback, I wonder if that king of the negatives, pickett fence, will come out publicly and eat his humble pie. Somehow I doubt it.

Legs don't look overly small.

No doubt they pay close attention to his size and weight - I imagine they don't want to be putting any unnecessary weight on his feet (also don't want him to turn into a tapscott)

Trengove was the most impressive junior we have on our list, he was an absolute stand out, had all the qualities you look for in an elite AFL player.

He was strong, explosive, classy, clean, well balanced, great decision maker, good leader. I've never really understood how he lost his pace. As a junior he had Chris Judd explosiveness, yet as a MFC AFL listed player, after a few years in the system - he was no quicker than Brock McLean.

with the plethora of positive effects that come out of a win like Sunday's, another is that you have to feel like Trengove (and Petracca) just get that extra bit of incentive, motivation and excitement to slog through all the hard years fixing themselves and not getting to play. Knowing that we are building something and they will have the opportunity in future to be part of wins like that must do wonders for them emotionally. Stick at boys.

Yeah I didn't think so.. I thought he was explosive, power through the hips, well balanced.

Not dissimilar to Chris Judd. Probably not he top end speed of Judd, but certainly the same power through the hips.

Finals prevented Trengove from attending the NAB AFL Draft Camp, but he followed up at the South Australian state screening with an outstanding beep test: level 15.3. Likened to Collingwood great Nathan Buckley, Trengove has excellent speed, endurance and leadership. He can also play midfield, forward or back. He is no relation to Port Adelaide's Jackson Trengove.

He tested 2.94 over 20 metres in pre-screening. While his speed is exaggerated in this bio it wasn't a "knock" on him at junior level.

yep, that what I think as well. I don't think he is limited to the mids. I think he can play small back, back flank, wing, forward flank defenssive small forward, you name it other than playing 6' 6" and above.

No Judd was a burst player who could explode away, whereas JT was strong and usually got his kick away. Judd would leave him for dead in acceleration. JT is a better mark than Judd though and that gives him another string to his bow.

Personally I would be thrilled for Jack if he could come back better than ever to have a good career with us.

I believe, from memory, that he tested at 2.97s in the SA state screening. I also think Brock McLean tested 3.01s, so I'm not sure that he could be said as having "Chris Judd like explosiveness".

As a junior, Trengove was a good all around player. But he was no line breaker, which did concern a few at the time. To say he had "excellent speed" is just an error on the Phantom Drafter's behalf.
