The idea of some labelling others as being holier than thou is laughable and indeed ironic. Whatever punishment the club and the courts may give him, some will agree and some disagree, but we all want him to sort himself out and play good footy for the club this season.

Ghastly! That bloke is EVERYWHERE!! He's in MY bathroom, too! Every time I look in the mirror, there he is!!

you need my mirror - Brad Pitt resides in mine - although my squeeze tells me that I am in desperate need of a new prescription for my glasses.

I'm not sure how anyone can take this stance.

I agree he isn't the first to be caught drink driving and he won't be the last.

It is not the one mistake in isolation. He was booked for drink driving AND he didn't inform the club AND he didn't front court.

I can even half understand if three stupid acts are done in conjunction with each other - ie being drunk, being chased by police and doing a runner - blind panic sets in and you exacerbate your first silly act.. But there is a sizable time gap between the incident AND the chance to inform the MFC AND fronting court.

( and comparing not fronting for a court appearance to forgetting to renew your car rego? Really ???)

It is not a hanging offense but trivializing it ? not me....

I certainly did not intend to trivialise it and regret my rego example may have done.

I am more certain that I do not know the facts .

As I stated he may well have been advised the matter was in the hands of the legals.

The club report did indicate they would investigate it and take action. I rely on them to investigate and take appropriate action in mind that the courts will also make a decision.

Courts may well decide that as he is a highly paid employee he can sustain a large fine rather than custodial, if the club then fines him he will be being more harshly treated than the courts intended. There are many levels of judgement and rehabilitation Only intensive examination and wisdom will arrive at the appropriate penalty.

At the risk of derailing the thread the current case in Indonesia shows clearly how there are many levels of guilt, remorse, rehabilitation and retribution. Unless you are close to the scene and are aware of all the facts it is silly to pass judgement.

No problem with compassion - but comparing missing a court date and driving on suspended licence and comparing it to forgetting to pay your rego - is exactly trivialising the issue.

To me it is about the appropriateness of the consequences for his actions. I am certainly not advocating firing him - by the same token I don't accept that he has clean slate with us as his first offense occurred under Carlton's watch. He compounded his first mistake by making two further mistakes.

As to not hearing Jeff's side of the story - the clubs statement " However, his failure to inform the Club of this incident and him being unaware of his scheduled court appearance is extremely disappointing. " carries no weight with you ?,

The statement from the Club also said they will continue to gather additional information before deciding what action to take, judicious editing?

Nobody is disagreeing that Jeff has been an idiot, but let's just wait and see, the club also said it had been working with Jeff on his welfare and behaviour, so we took him on knowing there was work to do

I'm not worrying what the club may or may not do.

My concern is double the limit whilst driving without a licence.

What did he lose the licence for?

Was it for drink driving?

The lawyers amongst you can tell me whether this a case where he gets locked up for a spell.

judge will no doubt be told that he has changed his life around, left that nasty corrupt carlton environment and gone to that nice caring club melbourne.

judge will no doubt be impressed and wish him well with a non-custodial sentence

Very optimistic DC.

What chance is the magistrate being a Melbourne supporter?

The chance of the magistrate being a melbourne supporter and an MCC member are high, I would have thought PD.

I have this old man who comes into my bath room mirror most Monday mornings

He looks just like my father!

Sounds like you have a problem with a stalker, OD ... :)

The old bloke in my mirror keeps telling me that seeing him daily is preferable to the alternative.

Depends on the alternative -- if the alternative is say one of DF's images, then ... :):)

of course all bets off if he is a carlton supporter

So Betts off but not Garletts then DC ...

Sound like most people in here at the age of 25 had there lives in perfect order and never broke the law, to put things into perspective in today's news, rapists, pederfiles, terrorists.

He made a couple of mistakes for whatever reason, we have all made mistakes.

I don't mind the fact that he stuffed up, I prefer that than these goody goody boys who never put a foot wrong and can't play football.

The main thing he is fit, has completed a full pre season and I for one am excited to see what he produces up forward for us.

He is apart of our football club so let's get behind him

They wouldn't be that stupid to admit that.

Suspend him for the first NAB cup game & act all stern & move on, he missed a court date for driving whilst suspended, not good but not a hanging offense, I can see how this 'lesser' charge from that night might have slipped his mind. He seems to have made some inroads in his life since joining MFC & it's unfortunate this happened but everyone will move on pretty quickly imo.

Should we get him in front of a camera and apologise too?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
