Training - Monday 5th January, 2015

The Age's Ronny Lerner reports that "the Christmas turkey has been digested and the New Year's sparklers have been tucked away for another year. It's time for the AFL's 18 teams to return to work."

It's uncertain whether turkey forms part of the paleo diet but it will sure be interesting to see how the boys look upon their return to training for 2015 tomorrow morning at Gosch's Paddock.

Hopefully, our regular crew of track watchers will be on hand to let us know.

AFL teams return to preseason training with injuries under control

MELBOURNE

Given the Dees' player development has been pushed back to the Stone Age in the last decade, it's perhaps fitting they have adopted a form of paleo diet this pre-season to increase their energy levels. But the light is certainly visible at the end of their long and dark tunnel and new recruits Heritier Lumumba, Jeff Garlett, Sam Frost and Ben Newton have made positive starts to their careers at Melbourne. Jack Watts (groin) and Jack Trengove (foot) have been the only major injury concerns. The Demons resume training on Monday.

Here's hoping that Jack Trengove's tricycle is working magically and that his rehab is ahead of schedule.

I see under the Gold Coast entry that O'Meara is in doubt for round 1 and Ablett's resumption of contact work looks delayed.

Doesn't hurt our chances.

Looking forward to the training reports, set to kick off with a time trial.

Should be a good morning for training.

Partly cloudy and temperatures at about 17 - 20 in the morning.

I think I'll be there. I have Man Flu at the moment and don't want to spread the germ around.

I may stand over on the Punt Road side no one goes there.

Can anyone confirm it will be at Goschs? Weren't they off to Casey to avoid the Asian cup drama?

Better still, why not mosey across to Collingwood's training and give them a dose?

The MFC site is silent on this *.

Upcoming open training sessions:

Friday 19th December - Gosch's Paddock - 9.15am

Saturday 17th January - Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex - 9.00am

All other training sessions are closed sessions.

* also somebody should tell them to change the links banner. It's now 2015 so it should be "News 2015"

Let's not go there. Memories of our performance against an undermanned Saints in round 1 last year are still clearly etched In my mind.

And how about this Friday? I'll be passing thru town and it'd be great to see the team train.

They are off to Maroochydore the following week to avoid the Asian Cup clash!

Yes, but they are also at Casey I'm sure for part of January for the Asian Cup/Tennis.

I guess we will find out tomorrow.

The only open training session all week !

The only open training session all week !

How is it possible to have a closed session at Gosch's? Or are the other sessions during the week elsewhere?

From the public it's not. Hence why they've had a couple of sessions else where at stages when they were doing obvious tactical drills. But they can designate them as closed sessions and that bans media and other clubs from attending.

c'mon all you wannabe footy scribes

last chance for a couple of weeks

get on your scooters tomorrow and scoot down to gosch's paddock

looking forward to all the gos

At training. Enjoying it immensely. Report later, low battery. Nat Jones not here... surfing accident, cuts all over legs!
