THE ESSENDON 34: ON TRIAL

Featured Replies

Im sure we can tell the difference between good ( PK) and evil ( JH ) !!

if anything it goes to highlight the difference

heh heh wada are like buddy warming up as the sub to come on halfway through the third quarter in a pre-season grand final.

"im not coming on unless im needed lads, but im sure as hell going to be ready if i have to"

My prediction on one element of all of this is that come April either James Hird will have been exonerated or he'll be suing someone.

One of the best examples of sabre rattling I have seen for some time. Well done WADA, excellent timing.

It seems WADA have decided now is time to say something ... WADA boss to review entire Essendon investigation

As Red foretold recently...get ready to RUMBLE !!!!!

H22, I think the opposite, I think he will be guilty or suing everyone.

Yes, they have made it clear they will review the whole thing and it looks like they will come out with all guns blazing! "We will review the entire investigation when all the cases that have resulted from it have been completed," Howman said. "We will discuss all elements with the Australian government and ASADA." Ha! Won't be engaging at all with the AFL! Big fish in little pond becomes a tadpole in the WADA ocean!

ASADA, being a gov't agency is effectively gagged. Unlike EFC who use for News Ltd to peddle its BS. If nothing else it puts everyone on notice, especially the AFL, to watch its narrative next week.

Looks like WADA are up for the fight! Hooray!

Why does the AFL feel obliged in that article to vaguely imply that the WADA code may need adjustment and thus as it is may not be suitable for AFL. Apparently no other team sport has complained. If by any unlikely chance there is an element that doesn't suit AFL, this is not the time to vaguely imply there is one. Unless of course the AFL feels obliged to kow-tow to the ridiculous EFC/HUN line about this.

Running the "doesn't suit AFL" line smacks of desperation. The sort of legal technicality that a guilty party reaches for. But we know EFC and Hird would never resort to legal technicalities in Hird's relentless quest to reveal the truth.

Sue, it's good to know that with the rewriting of history comes the rewriting of dictionaries, reveal now means obscure at least according to Hird & Co.

Finally International Rescue have responded

I hope they arrive in Thunderbird 2

Always my Favourite mode of transport!!

Hard to disagree, SWYL. Thunderbird 2 was the coolest. But who is Brains in this lot? :-)

On like Donkey Kong, and soon ...

Bugger Brains what about Lady Penelope?

No I don't mean bugger Brains in the way you lot are thinking.

hahahaha

Lets sit back and enjioy the show folks

There is a certain fascination with blood sports. And Essendon's exsanguination is particularly appealing.

"but the player does not have an infraction notice."

Wow.

Thats even worse news for Essendon then.

The suggestion that the player allegedly does not have an infraction notice indicates that there was more going on than previously known. This could be pandora's box.

Ie

Youve no idea what you gave me.

You didnt keep records.

You could have pumped me full of anything.

I will be compensated for any future health issues.

I hope it's kyle riemers. They gave him a flogging in the media

In recent weeks we have seen the attack dogs of the EFC barking loudly and often, and by attack dogs I mean News LTD. I think that WADA may just have had enough and decided to put these dogs in their place. WADA is running this show, not Essendon, not the AFL and certainly not that pathetic excuse for a news organisation News LTD.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
