What are the chances that Toumpas will be given a new contract after this season?

the obvious answer will be how he plays determines his future.

Breakout...he stays

So-so...He'll be traded

I think everyone accepts that we made the wrong choice. I would say the error for what we needed wasn't Wines but missing McRae who was the same type of player we needed and playing school footy with Viney.

It doesn't mean Toumpas wont become a good player but time/contract is running out. As Jones mentioned in a recent interview and as shown over the last two game his best is good but the gap between his poor games is woeful.

Gee McRae and the Bont looked good last night. Along with Wallis and Liber the doggies midfield in two years time is going to be very, very good.

Put some money on Ollie Wines for the Brownlow this season

We really stuffed up not taking him.. wasnt that Brary Prendergasts last draft with us?

Posted

No, Todd Viney.

I would love to know if the rumour of Neeldy overruling Viney has any truth has any truth to it, or we just choose to believe it hoping Viney wasn't silly enough to to do what he did.

2012 Draft

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=0S0plDZF5r4

From a Demons selectors perspective ( You know who you are )

Wines - Toumpas

Toumpas - Wines

I know give me a tail and a pin

Spin me around and around again

The tail will decide our demon main man

I need to be dizzy ,totally dizzy

Then face me in the right direction you [censored]

Give me a shove a prayer and hope once again

Its time to show we can play and win this game to

Now Toumpas - Wines

Wines - Toumpas

I knew we where on to something with this recruiting.

You wait and see all you doubters and naysayers

The future will be ours and all will see

We will be vindicated + 1, 2 @ 3 !!!!

But if we fail the option exists

To sack another coach again

To be free of Blame and continue our game

After all its not about whether we win or lose

Its just about how rotten we are at this game :lol::lol:

PS its not meant to rhyme because they couldn't even do that right

While there were plenty on here calling for us to take Ollie over Jimmy, there can be no doubt that Jimmy was very good in his TAC year as captain of SA and in the seniors at Woodville as well.

Clearly a few clubs by passed Ollie and most would have taken Jimmy ahead of him including Port. It may have been a blessing if they had pick 4 and we had 5. I am sure they would have taken the local under 18 Captain and we would have probably then taken Ollie. Of course that is spilled milk.

Without doubt Ollie has improved dramatically, while Jimmy has been ill and injured and suffered a lack of confidence.

There is still time for Jimmy to find his mojo and go some way towards making the comment of Chris Johnson, the Lions triple premiership player, that "Jimmy could be a future AFL Captain," not seem so absolutely ridiculous.

Jimmy's kicking was meant to be his great strength. So many of his kicks under match pressure don't hit targets. He takes too long to balance, then leans back and lengthens the ball drop. It results in the ball floating off target or over the target's head. He needs to address this immediately or he is not much good to us.

Are you a coach? I'm asking seriously, not being factitious as this is high end coaching.

Not the 'ol 'kick it long' and 'let's do some circle work' that used to dominate my footy :)

nailed it.

and i think that's why some of us are arguing he needs to strengthen his contested ball use extensively as he's simply not looking like he's going to make it as an 'outside' footballer at afl level - not quick enough, not smart enough, not skilled enough. unfortunately he's also not anything close to tough enough.

So, what's left? #60 for him?

doubt it. morton got us two fat ladies, which we traded to port for the best dancing footballer ever.

i'm fully expecting toumpas to want a trade back to adelaide at the end of this contract. we'll be lucky if we get jarryd lyons.

Sorry Couldn't resist!

Anyone else see that feeble effort to spoil at the 5 minute mark second quarter?

Maybe an early third round pick!! probably Adelaide might be interested.

I'm calling it!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
