Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

bb I think Roos is the one who needs to be convinced.

U along with all of us are not important enough for the club to concern themselves with convincing us.

In terms of my opinion, my viewpoint for my understandings etc..... I need to be convinced.

Of course thats irrelevant to anything the club would consider. its been a while actually since they wanted my opinion, think it was the summit now I think of it and they didnt put much of what I suggested to use then either...lol

The fact that Harry takes himself extremely seriously seems to be his major character flaw.

Australians tend to be quick to shoot down pretentious people who concern themselves wrih moral questions or individual rights ( different from the group).

I don't mind people who take a stand but FFS make it over something important.

Harry is a solo act.

Not destined to be in a band.

I have gay mates who would be very, very difficult to offend.

Some of the filthiest language in the world comes from queens.

His first issue with Buckley was over Seedsmans haircut which looked like a very lesbian type of boys cut so they called him"les".

When I read that I actually thought Buckley was a fairly humorous type to come up with that one and the ask"are you ok with that Harry?"

Harry wasn't Ok with that .

Harry lives in a PC bubble- not in reality.

I wish him the best in politics or whatever his field is .

As a footballer he is irrelevant.

He stands on principles and Pepsi ads also.

If gay men are normal, what would gay behaviour be, overt or not?

I don't ham it up is what I meant, I thought that was obvious. I also don't swear in front of her (In other words ham it up). I thinks that's a fairly generic term that I hope you understand.

Your not attacking me coz I outed myself in this thread? Coz that would be wrong and I would take HL like offence to that.....

Good on you Demonstrative for being open with us all.

Although I would love it if you turned up to work in full drag singing " it's raining men".

I think the Muslim lady would probably love it as well.

And it would make " the office" look tame.

At no stage did I say BT's account was gospel. In fact, I qualified it with this rider: "Make of it what you will."

You're right in that we all have different opinions about journos and the reliability and accuracy of their stories. I'm inclined to believe that the info that's out there on this one - including BT's - is close to bang on.

Let's face it, it doesn't paint H in a particularly good light. If it was largely untrue, or there was an alternative version of events, either H or his manager would have moved to set the record straight by now.

Fair enough. But i would not be surprised if there was more to this story than has come out. I heard BT again give that spiel today and he made it clear there were a number of issues. The poster was - according to BT - the straw that broke the camels back, so to speak and cam after he had already raised concerns about the culture of homophobia at the club. Interestingly for those accusing him of grandstanding that was kept in house and HT didn't make any public statement (indeed he hasn't made any full stop, except i suppose meeting with an opposition coach!)

Time to get off your Soap Box Dr! Not sure why HL seems to think that the gay community needs his assistance? Maybe he is pink suede himself.

As a out and very proud gay man I'm offended by HL's behaviour. Lighten up FFS. Gone are the days that the Gay Community need to fight every battle to get acceptance in mainstream society. We have moved past that school boy banter and have moved onto more pressing issues such as rights for Civil Union, rights to parenthood etc etc.

Me and my community use this kind of humour on a daily basis. Why? Coz it's funny.

Me and my community.

So who's on a soapbox then? When did you get to speak for your 'community' as if that's a single, undifferentiated thing?

Ffs.

He uses self deprecating humour with his gay mates. Is he not able to say that?

I did, the difference being that I comprehended it.

Congratulations! A real achievement, especially comprehending it without any grasp of the difference between a group of mates and a community. Mind you, with a name like Jabberwocky perhaps you believe that words mean what you want them to rather than what they actually mean.

In fact, my sexuality has been on the end of some very inappropriate jokes in the workplace, and I have used inappropriate comments about heterosexuality. It's all part of the fun at laughing at and with myself and others. No one is getting hurt. No one is fearful, nor are they angry.

I work with a Muslim lady, who has very strong homophobic views. We don't talk about them but we know they are there. We get along really well and through just being me, she is learning a lot about the gay community. She now realises that gay men are normal and harmless. On the flip side, I don't flaunt any overt gay behaviour or discussion her way. I respect her faith and culture to much to do that.

If I went down the HL pathway of defending gay rights, I would just reinforce any fixed and uneducated views my Muslim colleague has or had. The best way to break down social stigmas is via engaging people. Not putting them off side.

Actually I do have the right to speak on behalf of my community. I can call it my community as I am very much a part of it. The fact is 'gay culture' is very much about taking the [censored] out of sexuality. It ain't all about that, but it's very much is there all to see.

Does dr John Dee have the right to question me, sure he does. But he can't question my experience.

I like to think that I speak on behalf of the hetro community.

Straight or gay, does anyone really care these days? I like a person for being a good decent person not who they're preference in gender is.

HL is still a toss, he'd help us on field but I doubt he'd help the culture off the field.

I've known plenty of young gay people, including direct family who have struggled to come out, feeling like all the snide remarks and put downs about being gay, the social prejudices, family rejections, etc, which are too much for them and it's easier to hide who you are. The consequences for young gay people I have known have often been disastrous and paint a different picture. I don't deny your own experience Demonsterative, and yours might be true for others, but IMO you only have the right to speak for yourself and not all gay people.

Which is an indictment on the world we live in and unfortunately we have people like yourself to thank for it.

Haha you clown - I never said I was offended by it I couldn't give a stuff really about the specific example thats been mentioned, but it's the reality of the world we live in and it's clear this has been repeated behaviour. Sorry we don't live in a world anymore where idiots can hide behind their pathetic attempts at humour as a way to mask their bigotry and racism. I know you probably think somehow your rights are being trampled on by the PC brigade but for those who don't have to put up with idiots in the workplace anymore I'm sure it makes their life easier.

If the only way you can relate to people is by pathetic attempts at lowest common denominator "humour" then it says a whole lot more about you than the people who may take offence - in fact it's likely they're taking offence at your cringeworthy humour than your racism or bigotry.

He was implying that one gay man does not have the right to speak on behalf of the entire gay community.

Only Harry can do that.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
