Furthermore, he sees the challenge of helping melbourne back up the ladder as a key factor. As well as being closer to home and the money, the chance to work alongside a stable coaching arrangment and be a leader are the biggest factors.

Said last week he has already met with Roosy. Rang Dangers parents up to put forward the plan t them and basically what the club will provide for him.

Family was blown away. His old man was keen as mustard for him to join the dees but end of the day its up to Patty.

Maybe it's the MFCSS, but until I see it I just cannot believe it. Purely because I'm used to our team being the pits where no one wants to play.

If this is true, I think I'll have a heart attack. I literally just can't believe where there's smoke there's fire in this instance.

He doesn't seem a money type. We might be able to pay him more than Geelong but I'm so used to nobody wanting to come here.

Bracing for disappointment, it's a natural reaction as a Dees fan.

Agreed

Not to jump ahead or anything, but Sloane AND Tex are both free agents next year. There's no reason if they love playing together so much, they can't reunite at another club.

Especially if Adelaide become a basket case next year due to administrative decision making.

This will be my last post on the matter but I managed to find out today that he did meet with melbourne officials.

I didn't ask if he had toured aami park or not, however this is now as close to happening without a signature. He is quite frustrated at his treatment both in the media and at adelaide headquarters from several key coaches and members. I'm not going to list those but as it stands patty is 97-99% going to be a Demon.

Of course he is....

Melbourne have the picks to satisfy Adelaide and they would know that he's going to leave regardless in 12 months time. Losing him to FA may leave them with a just solitary pick, possibly around #8 - #10 if they finish near the same spot as this year. I reckon if Dangerfield truly wants to come here, then we're home and hosed. But having got my hopes about Judd seven years ago, I refuse to let the same thing happen again.

Only because we bottomed out like no one before us, and the immense challenge attracted some greats of the game.

I don't think missing out on a great player is the cause of Carlton's woes.

I thinks it's the mindset of "bring Juddy in, stick talented kids around him, and the rest will take care of itself!"

Didn't work, and now they're perenially stuck in the purgatory of 14th-8th

Exactly the point I'm trying to make 'Machsy'.

I'm not sure how old you are but I've seen this all before at Melbourne and it's why I'm gun-shy with Patty. I know we've got some good people in charge but we did then when Barassi got Templeton & Moore.

This thread is now bookmarked on my computer. I'm loving the speculation. Fingers crossed there's some truth to the rumours.

I've seen the "load up to the eyeballs in top 10 draft picks" before too, which is why I'm gun-shy on passing up a proven performer whose best years are still ahead of him, for draft picks.

I will no longer post on this thread due to potentiality of people at the end of it needing psychological help to cope with the trauma!
