After reading a post a few weeks ago by a certain demonland member who I rate very highly (initials GNF) in conjunction with the media reports regarding Thompson's future at the Dons next year (unlikely to be alongside or back behind Hird), I certainly found his and Roos' segment on AFL 360 this week very very intriguing.

During the segment when asked about his position next year whilst given a large and blatantly obvious wink by reporter Mark Robinson, Thompson responded with the usual public relations (PR) give nothing long winded response, whilst Robinson continued to throw his head back and forward between Thompson and Roos as if he knew something and was stirring the pot.

AFL 360 link: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2014-08-26/paul-roos-on-afl360

Over the course of the season I have really enjoyed watching this segment and the discussions between two quality coaches, you can clearly see Roos and Thompson are on the same level and clearly enjoying bouncing off one another's thoughts.

I believe it is appearing more likely (as initially suggested by GNF) that if Thompson is on the move at seasons end and that he will end up at the Dees.

If this comes to fruition having two high quality coaches will be truly marvelous for our player development and game plan - one a specialist in defense with the other a specialist in attack.

GNF Gives no f....?

Let's just wait and see. All this speculation is pointless, although I suppose without speculation this forum wouldn't exist.

lets say he does come to the MFC

does he slot in as head coach?

and if so, what position does Roos take?

why the hell would Bomber want to be Roosy's trainee, why would he want to even coach MFC, surely we we don't have any more bucket loads of cash left.

Isn't the AFL paying Roos salary?

Would it become a case of two/too many chiefs and far far too few indians?

If Essendon make him head coach, he'll stay. If not, is there a vacancy at another club? If it comes down to a choice between deputy to Hird or Roos, he won't think twice, especially if he is the designated successor - and they may do a deal for him to take over in 2016. I'm guessing he'll be head coach at Essendon next year.

*cough*

Suggested by another poster on here prior to that...

FYI some of the things I hear I present as just my own musings, as all best laid plans don't always come to fruition, but there's something in this...

Just for the record I said and can confirm that there has been informal discussions with Bomber to come in as an assistant Coach under Roos. Bomber will not coach Essendon if Hird is in the Don House and is not keen to be a senior coach again. I understand Bomber was open to the idea.......... but I have heard nothing since. I do agree that there seemed to be some eye communication going on in that interview.

I assume Bomber would be able to increase his media involvement as part of the deal. You would think he would take an offensive coaching role.

Anyway this is just speculation at this stage.

The thing about Bomber is..He's communication skills are shiit. But notwithstanding that issue, he's probably one of the best game day coaches in the comp. Add that to Roosy...and phewww :)

where did people get the idea that he is not a quality person. He seems fine on AFL 360. Plus, didn't Barry Hall call Paul Roos a 'bully'?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
