You are one weird unit. Did you get down on your knees for him at training then?

No I chatted to him about the upcoming draft period, interestingly if you show an interest and ask intelligent questions, you get some good answers and feedback, if you behave like a [censored] like some on here you get treated that way, we were actually chatting about us taking JKH and the Dayle Garlett scenario, we actually got that one right

Interestingly, Mitch posted an Instagram pic yesterday from St Kilda with the caption:

"perfect day for a recovery swim down at st kilda beach #iphone"

Make of that what you will (unless of course, he was recycling an old shot).

Great...now St Kilda are in the mix...

I'm sure they said a free keg will be on after the North game. If you want to make sure contact the Duke.

Confirmed. A free keg after the game win or lose.

Any more mention of the succession plan on the night?

Anyone considered Gia? Just throwing it out there.

There's a link with his sister working at the club...

*cough*

funny ...it passed by my conciousness also this morning reading of his coaching intentions.

its often suggested you learn the coaching AWAY from your home.

As like yourself its probably a fleeting idea...interesting one though perhaps. Not necessarily as the successor ...but as an assistant and see where that leads.

What did we get right? The only player we took before Garlett in the draft was Salem & JKH is a (private schooled) Melbourne boy...

Perhaps the 'assistants' role that was being contemplated for Cameron Ling, whatever that was.

I heard on midday news Gia saving he was starting his coaching career at the Dogs next year.

Acknowledged we would probably need to move elsewhere in the future but for the next couple of years will be at the Dogs.

I think we'll see a fair shake of offers like this next season. The Duke are working with the club to build this type of thing up. Decent place, good food, nicely tucked away upstairs, easy to get to etc etc

( I'll have a free beer thanks Duke !! lol )

I'd love to go to one with Todd Viney and Jason Taylor.

Not when it dilutes our compensation for Frawley. Pick 3 vs pick ~60.

And whilst we keep losing free agents who can land us quite decent compensation, the club will also be hesitant in chasing free agents. Unsuccessful clubs likes ours are not necessarily a popular destination for quality free agents so we lose out twice. We don't want them because of the compo risk and they don't necessarily want to come because we're not a premiership chance.

Against all that, our club should be bringing in as many quality free agents as we can. The system works against us as each of our better players becomes eligible for free agency. Next year Jones and Garland become eligible (at the end of 2015) Do we not chase free agents if either or both players doesn't re-sign?

As I see it, whether the rules permit it or not, a club needs to make a play for a quality free agent very early on. Perhaps at least 12 months before the free agents are out of contract.

We'll continue to act as a feeder club unless we start winning a lot more games ... plus, we somehow need to get some A grade talent into the club to help turn things around.

it is possible to get around that by utilising a throw away later pick in a quasi trade * if all parties agreeable )

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
