should be played as a swing man, on rotation a fair bit. Down back he saves us all the time. up forward he can provide that spark to lift the boys.
If he could do a bit of both, that'd be great.

Do you guys reckon he is more suited to forward or back?

I quite like him up forward, I think he's a hugely dangerous matchup and capable of kicking multiple goals

but he also looks a very handy defender at the minute

I'd like him to be in the thick of it. Not stuck deep forward.

his run, foot-skills, & his leap are all useful, so I'd like to see him as a utility type. A ruck-rover, half-back, half-forward.

IMO he is the player we should consider as a trade if a very good midfielder is in the offering.

He has never been more effective than in the 8 or so good games he has played down back this season. He is still young and is learning some excellent defensive traits back there being a part of a defence that has reduced the score kicked against us by 7 goals.

And, OD, of course if someone offered a capable midfield replacement for him we would have to look at it - but what player doesn't qualify for that kind of statement?

Very few.

I would have traded his flashy marks for some substance in a heartbeat last October, but 2014 has seen progress from Howe, and Roos is using his skills to great effect in the backline.

Wing, he has the tank and is a better get out option than our rucks. I think the reason why he is playing down back is to learn a defensive game. Once he gets this I can see him on the wing

Ive always thought his best position, would be playing on an oppositions 3rd defender.. As opposed to the start of the year when he was key forward and getting triple teamed.. But now with pedo n dawes.. And even jamar resting i think its ime he goes back forward..

and he's learning the habit of working harder, & more consistently. concentration & fitness. Keep him there for the next 12 months; with cameos up forward & thru the midfield as well.

Always reminded me of "leaper Lynch" former teammate of roos who was a high flying ineffective forward. Whelan made his reputation picking up his spillage. He went back for some time and returned to full forward when he bulked up.
