Happy to have Toumpas - he will be a player.

If we had Wines I doubt we would have gone after Tyson. I would rather have Tyson than Wines.

Yes interesting take, Tyson for Wines. In an ideal world I would rather have them both. Tyson "Pure Class" Wines "Pure Grunt"

Hnmm that's got me thinking!?

Amazing, you try to start an intelligent convo and everyone not only Jumps to conclusions, but provides scope for mass prescriptions of Valium!!

Your disappointed and want the thread locked because everyone got you. You thought of trying to take the pizz and get everyone riled, but we cottoned on too quick for you. You poor misguided fool.

Toumpas was a poor pick, but i trust the current regime won't make those mistakes again judging on the how they worked pick 2 last year.

Wines would have been handy. Toumpas isn't in his league which is a shame for such a high draft pick.

The current regime would have picked the same guy, eg picked Salem over other, more hardened bodies. Wines is a good player, but I would lay you 10:1 that Jack would be better in that Port side.

If I were Roosy I think it time to play a selection of players including Jimmy Toumpas and consider Luke Tapscott, definitely Sam Blease and maybe one or two others to see if they are capable of playing the way he intends!

If there's anything we should take from Roos this year re: the Casey players, it's that he will not give games to those who don't earn them.

Tapscott has not earned his spot in the side. If that means he doesn't get a game this year, that's an indication of where his career's at. Same deal with Evans, Nicholson and Strauss. Blease seems to be improving but I'm not sure his defensive work is at Roos' standard.

It's one thing to want to see what they can do, but if they're not doing anything at VFL level it's not right to drop players who earned their spot in the AFL side to make way for them.

Comparisons are odious but should acknowledge how good Wines has been during his first 2 years. Most young players tire and can't maintain consistency but He just keeps rolling along and hasn't yet had a below par performance that I'm ware of. Amazing effort.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
