I think they'll be sought, but aren't as high on the list as some other types. A bloke like Salem has already shown his danger at ground level.

agreed we are only half way with the mids yet. & Fitzy still offers a lot of potential for our future IMO. not sure about the others rucks yet. capable but, how far?

A couple of great kicks off half back

We have probably lost 2-3 games thanks to the poorr foot skills of Grimes, Terlich and McDonald killing us on the last line of defense

Aside from that just target gun players regardless of position

Im sure thats what Roosy will do

Tall midfielders and half backs that can run and kick laser accurate passes.

Stephen Hill comes to mind.

I'd actually like the mids bookends, - a Dion Prestia type, & a Josh Kennedy type size. I'm all for getting all bases covered. Having plenty of variation allows our coaches flexibility to trouble the opponents.

agreed on the running backs, we need good steppers, with vision & great kicks. but doesn't everyone. bruce doull, did you have any grandkids?

Im sure thats what Roosy will do

all our midsized recruits should all have an ability to run thru mid rotations. from there we will find some with differing skill sets. eg: hodge.

I liked the term used by Dunstall "On the Couch", clubs need distributors from the back line and this is an obvious deficiency in our back line. I suspect Salem will be earmarked for this role in seasons to come. I only hope Hawthorn get distracted by Fyfe as they cannot afford him and Frawley. We will find out just how good our recruiting team i.e. Taylor to identify excess talent at another club looking for a change.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
