Tyson's right-footed inside 50 in the last quarter was a real momentum killer. Was being chased down but should have produced a better kick

Tyson would've been spent.

Don't forget it is basically Dom's first year.

GWS must surely be kicking themselves atm, I know Kelly is good.. But Tyson is looking sublime.

Has Tyson already achieved more in his handful of games he has played for the MFC than Sylvia did in his entire career playing for us?

His start to his career and current form is more consistent than Sylvia ever was. Let alone when Sylvia was 20, not even close to the same.

Tyson was great last night, but I particularly liked his efforts in giving Jones a chop out by pushing Picken off him and around at some of the stoppages.

Interesting that in the article on the MFC website, Roos again reiterated that we would not have taken Kelly had we held on to pick 2. I suspect they wanted Salem and took the view that he'd still be there at 9. If that's the case, we got Tyson basically for nothing.

Sounds pretty rosy. Since we'll never know the truth, I choose to believe it :)

Someone at the time said we did the trade because the guy we rated at 2 would be at 9 but they thought it was freeman

I have been watching Dom closely this year and I am starting to believe that the reason he looks slow at times is because he is one of those very few that seem to be able to create time and space wherever he goes. There was a passage of play last night after receiving a clean tap from Jamar that I thought he would either be wrapped up or lucky to get a handball away, but to my surprise he was able to run through heavy traffic and get a kick away.

I love this kid, he is fast becoming my favorite player and just seems to have the ability to slow things down and make them look so easy. Also when you watch him in traffic he just seems able to fend off his opponents with a flick of his hips.

Here's hoping we all have at least a good decade of being in awe of his abilities.

I suspect it might've been Scharenberg, and given his foot injury we might've actually dodged a bullet there.

Either him or Aish would be my bet.

...be interesting to see how Scharenberg comes up, the kid can play and I was surprised GWS didn't go with him given they have a surplus of small medium mids. Maybe they didn't like the chances with the foot injury.

Whilst I think the above, I like your story better. I think I will adopt that one.

essentially we got salem and tyson for kelly.

So far its looking like we did pretty well for it.
Salems got a long way to go but he has the basis of a good footballer.

Tyson shows a lot of talent, just gotta tidy up some ends and consistency.

We'll really start seeing the effects of this trade next year when both have games under their belt, and both are in our starting 22. With another trade season, Roos will bring in new players to send M. Jones, Terlich, Bail, Byrnes (OOC?) and Pedo down to the seconds.

As for D. Tyson, don't want to get ahead of myself, but I think we may have found the next superstar of the game. This kid will flourish under Roos, and once he perfects his kicking he'll be one of our most important players.

Hawthorn rated Salem a top 3 prospect. Massive steal for us in Getting both Dom and Christian.

So: Tyson and 53 for pick 22 and 73?

That's a good deal...

And make those new players earn it.

And make those new players earn it.

No doubt. Michie has been dropped and Riley hasn't been in the seniors yet, they have to earn it. Even Hogan will.

I'm surprised Salem slipped to #9 when so many teams had him rated so highly. Is this just the lousy Giants recruitment strategy?

Wouldn't be surprised if Billings was rated at 2. I think we were shy on Kelly and Aish because of our history with the skinnier types. Those guys have shown that they are be able to win their own (which was in question, particularly with Aish) , but Salem already has a pretty good frame for a new draftee.

Didn't know that. Where did you hear that?

Makes sense given their penchant for left footers who are strong over the ball.

Hawks also have a habit of not going with popular opinion when it comes to drafting, and generally it works out well for them.

The Tyson / Salem deal is starting to look like one of the best trade deals of recent times.

Let's be honest though. We were due.

If that is right (and I am not doubting it) it would make sense. Strong hard at it left footer with a lethal boot.

That's a good deal...

Tyson and Jayden Hunt for Darcy Gardiner (who is at Brisbane due to an on trade) and a pass from GWS.

Pretty happy if you ask me.

Tyson and 53 for pick 22

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
