Few too many chestie marks dropped i50. If our skills were better we would have won that game

Firstly, the umpiring was absolutely abysmal. The free to Ablett is EXACTLY the type of free they HAVEN'T been paying this year, and the type of free that ruins games of footy. Tiggy touchwood and a momentum killer. Ablett is so bloody good though.

8 point defeat, probably flatters a bit but under Neeld this would have been 60+. So that's a small positive.

Nathan Jones is the heart and soul of this footy club, but Jack Viney is catching him quickly. Can build a midfield around these two.

Dawes was extremely wasteful, but he makes us so much better. Frawley likewise.

I like Jack Watts but how can one defend him after that? Career is at the crossroads. If Roos can't turn him into a player, nobody will. Heartless.

I would love to see jack spencer punch the ball out of the centre a lot towards our forward line a lot more, dropping at his feet too often results in it going to the opposition.

This is now the third game out of four that we've lost when we could easily have won it. The umpiring killed us - too many abysmal decisions went against us at crucial moments, none more so than the Ablett free, which was possibly as bad a decision as there ever has been. Anyone other than Ablett and that wouldn't have been played.

Nonetheless, we were our own worst enemy again today. We had good players down on impact (McDonald got ripped apart, Dunn was shocking, Watts was too quiet, Howe spent half the game again doing nothing) and our substandard players were exposed in the light of a better side's pressure.

Jetta was awful, Terlich is regressing, Spencer got destroyed by a kid in the ruck, Evans added nothing for the second week in a row as sub, Tyson was quiet (shouldn't have been subbed though, Jetta should have).

N Jones again brilliant, Dawes again great, Frawley lifted, Howe lifted in the second half, Vince was good early but disappeared late. Too much left to too little with too many awful skill errors.

We could, and almost should, have won this game, and it sucks that we lost it. But at least we're coming out of games feeling frustrated at losing them, and not despondent over our future.

The same nonsense.

Why does it take us until late in the last quarter to actually start to "MARK AND PLAY ON' its the way you win matches and we are the slowest, most indecisive, worst decision makers. We turn the ball over kicking it 5metres to one on ones. If in doubt just get it 60m forward and move it fast. Our refusal to run was just pathetic... If have that attitude against any of the good sides we will be smashed. Port Adelaide have turned it around by having the right attitude and we were no worse than them 2 years ago.

Watts just need to turn into a man

Vince has gone quiet

Jordie McKenzie gave three free kicks away with lazy slopping tacking and then was stiff with the costly decision

Gold Coast stop running and every other team would have run over the top of them, We had our chance and didn't take. it.

The games now only get harder!

Agree with all this. Viney's disposal is letting him down a bit but he is already dominating for us in and under.

Some will say the margin flattered us but we won three out of four quarters. That second quarter was Neeld-esque and is where we lost the game, but for 75% of the match we were either equal to the Suns, or better. That's a marked improvement from the Melbourne of 2013, even if it's frustrating.

Think we'll see quite a few changes after that one. So many skill errors and Watts is now exposed for all to see. We'll be a much better side with Kent, Hogan, Salem and Garland playing. Can drop some deadweight.

And I still rate Evans, that was a great goal. He's a sneaky kick that guy. JKH fantastic with a lot of flare, which so much of our team lacks.

2 crucial umpiring decisions in that last quarter certainly made a difference! The Ablett one was poor but just after that Jetta nearly gets his head ripped off, no free but Suns goal! If we didn't go missing in the 2nd qtr could have been a different game!

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
