5 days to go, looks like the only players that aren't available are Clark, Hogan, Dawes, Jamar, Garland and Riley with question marks against Viney on his fitness.

That's heaps of outs compared to round 1 last year.

I think we were only missing Trengove and Dawes (what a shock!)

Bookies win again

Really?

Nobody has kicked a bag yet and Howe will play the whole game forward

Smart bet

h_h he has in his 56 games kicked 65 goals i.e. barely more than one goal per game.

The most I can remember is one lot of three if my memory is correct.

The bookies seldom get it wrong the odds are against you by a big margin.

I will stay with bookies h_h

Thanks C and B I knew as soon as I wrote that some one would point out I was wrong.

I will however still stay with the bookies he will not kick the sweep for round 1

The only confidence I take into Saturday is that we could have beaten St Kilda twice last year, from memory our stock standard first quarter flops gave them a good advantage with both games us fighting back to stay in the game but Beau Wilkes or what ever he calls himself towelled us in the first game.

Our midfield is better our back six and even forward line isn't much different to last year. They have a number of players out but so do we. It will be if our new look midfield can smash there undermanned mids.

If I was having a bet I'd be on Roughead or Gunston from Hawthorn against Brisbane or Josh Kennedy at West Coast against the dogs. I'd love Howe to kick a bag but a realistic return is 3 goals and hopefully by drawing the ball that some of the other forwards can get in on the action as well against the saints.

Now that I could subscribe to tm.

I have a feeling our chances on Saturday will depend on our ironing out turnovers. There have been some good signs in preseason, but not when it comes to turnovers, where we're still the Kings. It'll kill us regardless of who St.Kilda have missing.

Quick question. Should I buy tickets before the match or would it be safe to get them at the ground? Also where to park? Thanks

Posted

Just got some medallion club tickets from a mate for me and the mrs.

Pumped i don't have to pay $40 to sit in the nose bleeds at Shitihad Stadium.

I usually park in West Melbourne (behind festival hall) and walk the ten or so minutes to the ground. Saves you a few bucks.

how in the name of God are we going to kick a winning score? Big test early for Roosy to come up with a contingency plan

I think it is worrying more than you C and B

Turnovers are huge but we also have to move the ball fast enough and use it enough to get in to this new game plan. If we go slow down the line we will probably lose as well.

I think each of our defenders besides maybe Georgiou and some of the mids had bad turnovers against Richmond. But we also controlled the pace of the game and won the contested ball. We can afford a few turnovers if we can at least move the ball how we want to against the saints. Every thing went to water against Hawthorn. Against Geelong there were patches where we lost the plot.

If we lose the game purely on bad turnovers then at least we can fix or remove the players who are repeat offenders. If we get crushed under pressure like against the Hawks then nothing is improved.

we managed to in round 1 of the nab cup against Richmond

wont be a problem vs the saints

We don't need to score a volume of goals to win a match, we need only stop the other team from scoring.

That's Roosy's entire game plan folks. Hold possession and starve the opposition.

Before you do, put some of your vast wealth on it. Pay for the cruise. You'd probably get good odds on SB kicking a match winning six

Good point Bbo

$5 @ 1000 to one is $5000.

Easy money.

I will look it up.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
