How do Essendon and GWS have picks 19 and 20?

Essendon have an end of first rd compo for being drug cheats (part of penalty negotiated with AFL) and GWS got a compo pick traded back to them which they have activated for this years draft. It is likely a comp that was originally given to a club for having a player poached by GWS in the first place.

TAC Cup Future Stars - Top 20 rolling draft

1. St. Kilda - Christian Petracca

2. Melbourne - Angus Brayshaw

3. GWS Giants - Peter Wright

4. Brisbane - Patrick McCartin

5. Western Bulldogs - Jake Lever

6. Carlton - Jayden Laverde

7. Gold Coast - Paul Ahern

8. Collingwood - Darcy Moore

9. Adelaide - Sam Durdin

10. West Coast - Jarrod Pickett

11. Richmond - Liam Duggan

12. Fremantle - Kyle Langford

13. Geelong - Caleb Marchbank

14. Gold Coast - Lachie Weller

15. North Melbourne - Ed Vickers-Willis

16. Port Adelaide - Hugh Goddard

17. Hawthorn - Tom Lamb

18. Sydney - Isaac Heeney

19. Essendon - Clem Smith

20. GWS Giants - Corey Ellis

To all the hindsight draft genius's out there please enlighten us on who we should take in order to save the next reincarnation of Toumpas vs Wines. Jarrod Pickett had a blinder today in a losing side in the colts Prelim. With Meth Coast craving some midfield speed and size they may take him and bank on Blakely falling to their second round pick

This one is pretty even 'Pennant', if we take Brayshaw I think he will be a good player for us. Laverde interests me but I haven't seen enough to stick my neck out on him, McCartin has had a bit of an off year with injury and I could see him doing a Jack Darling.

I really liked the look of Petracca live and his appetite.Brayshaw looks a good solid mid with dual disposal which is often overlooked but very important at the next level. Do we keep the picks and take both with a view of a McRae Stringer type outcome or do what we did last year. I'm leaning towards the second option the but will trust the footy department

I think we might split them, take one and trade the other. A lot depends on what is on offer, clubs talk big but then don't come good when the time comes. I have faith in the FD as well Pennant.

Pick 2 or 3 or even both will be traded for the right deal. Roos has stated that we can't rely on bringing in 8 kids like we have in th past. I just hope we trade for another quality player (like Tyson has been) yet use one of 2 or 3 to grab a quality mid like Petracca or Brayshaw. Tyson, Salem, Viney, Toumpas Petracca/Brayshaw. That could develop into a great midfield core while Jones, Vince, Cross, Trengove (fingers crossed) and whoever we trade for can lead the way for the now. Keeping the list balanced.

Corey Ellis and Tom Lamb are both very good players who could easily slide to our second round pick, it would be interesting to see if we rate Stretch ahead of someone like Ellis

Can't see the Saints going past Wright or McCartin. They are in desperate need for a developing tall, especially if they delist Tom Lee which looks likely. The only way I can see them going for Petracca with pick 1 is if they trade in a tall like Jaksch. Hopefully that doesn't happen and Petracca falls to us at pick 2.

Be really good if we were able to draft Oscar McDonald - Tom's younger brother. Sounds like a good one.

Just announced on 1116 that Saints will take Petracca. Would we take Brayshaw and Mccartin?

Bugger. Didn't hear it. Was it announced directly by a Saints official or was it a claim by a SEN person?

Lets be more specific, Jon Ralph believes the Saints will take Petracca. Ffs people this is how rumours start when what was actually said is not reported correctly

Luckily it was Jon Ralph so hoping its just a journo trying to run with a whisper

Sorry guys I didnt mean to cause any heart pain. Just thought id post what I heard

It's really not that important anyway, we should be well over the one player will help us thing and the great white hope number one selection.

FWIW the 2 best up and coming mids in the game are Fyfe pick 20 and Parker pick 40. I still think Dean Gore will be a steal at anywhere from 20 to rookie.

Fine with that. Trade pick 2 to the doggies for a player and pick, grab Brayshaw with 3.

Petracca higher risk for mine, Brayshaw looks like the safe bet

Havent seen much of Mccartin but if we couldnt orchestrate a trade could we pick him up? Dawes, Hogan, Mccartim

Hasn't been as good this year as last but I think we could. He can play and is hard at it like Hogan.

Trade 2 to the Bulldogs. They can draft a KPF, we'll take one of their fringe midfielders and second rounder. Keep 3 for Brayshaw.

That is not smart. The Dogs are desperate for a KPF, we would want one of their best mids for that trade.

Would have thought keeping 2 for Brayshaw and trading 3 to WB would have still given them their KPF but absolutely ensured we got Brayshaw.

And 3 is overs for a fringe mid and 2nd rounder.

Bulldogs will only do that trade to get a KPF. It won't matter what pick we give them- they're not going to trade a midfielder to get that pick and replace it with another younger midfielder.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
