2015 CEO?

Featured Replies

Posted

The start of the 2014 season is staring us in the face and in another 7 -8 months we will be without a CEO.

There seems so far to be no news of a search for a replacement.

Will there be an announcement on Monday night that Mr. Peter Jackson is staying past 2014?

If not where do we go from here?

PJ has proved the worth of a good CEO where do we find a replacement as good?

Thoughts anyone?

We offer our first born for him to stay on.

I would hope he stays on, he has secured Roos for the next 2 to 3 years and I would hope we have Jackson with him. In fact I would be surprised if Roos signed without some guarantee that Jackson was around at least for a couple of years to help set things up.

Good thread OD. Very important topic.

Now hear me out..... one from left field.....

There is talk that Vlad may step down this year.... rumours it could be as early as Feb or at the end of the season. Could we consider him? Has the experience, knows the system like the back of his hand. clearly not within our price range. Or perhaps McLachlan, or someone from within senior AFL ranks? Adrian Anderson anyone?

Actually, forget it. I apologise in advance......

Pass me another drink please......

I'd say no to Vlad, I think it's important that we replace PJ with someone just as ethical as the great man - which obviously rules out Vlad.

My understanding from AFL sources is that Jackson is not going anywhere and he will be around for a while and he is enjoying the challenge at MFC. I did not get the impression that PJ would be flying the nest within the next 12 months.

OD

take a happy pill .. please :)

half empty....half full

same glass same world,,,,

I hope you are right 'Rhino', he certainly gives the indication that he will be around for a while.

A few months ago He agreed to stay till the end of 2014.

Nothing since RR

I would love to have proof he is staying besides gut feel.

The subject just seems very quiet.

I am hoping for an announcement on Monday night!

Think you are reading my comment the wrong way bb

Anyway nothing would please me more for him to be staying past this year.

But there is nothing concrete yet to say he is.

I don't agree we need him past 2014.

I remember thinking that about this time of 2010!

I thought the appointment of De Crespigny as CFO looked like the beginnings of a succession plan.

This guy would be perfect for us!

Agreed, I think we need him past 2014. He still has a job to do.

His job isn't finished until he gets Roos to sign on for that third year option, increases membership to new heights, and retains some of our brightest stars.

Getting a few big name recruits won't hurt either. :)

I believe Cameron is still looking for a job

I think he'll stay for at least as long as Roos. Roos wouldn't have committed for longer than Jackson.

And his job isn't finished until he's found an equally competent replacement. That's his most important job now.

I'd hope both he and Roos get the bug to stick around and drive us right through to the ultimate.

That's right, PJ won't waste all his time and effort by leaving the club without a decent replacement.

It's about legacy.

I thought the appointment of De Crespigny as CFO looked like the beginnings of a succession plan.

Yep this. AFL trained. Appointed to CFO soon after PJ joined, I get the feeling PJ would be testing him out now to ensure he's right to go when PJ feels the need to hand over.

I think the more important thing is to make sure Josh Mahoney is doing a good job as the head of football and to see where and when we place Roos within the organisation once he finishes his 2-3 years of senior coaching.

So if we're all in such a rush to throw out the baby with the bathwater why don't we offer the most succefull CEO Gary Pert an offer he can't refuse. Lord knows who he could bring as next coach !

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
