Dandenong Stingrays.

No idea about him. Let's talk.

From one of the threads:

James Harmes (VIC Mid)
Height: 184cm, Weight: 78kg, DOB: 05/10/1995
Recruited from: Dandenong Stingrays
Style:
Player comparison:
Range: Late - undrafted
Profile: Harmes is an aggressive midfielder who inside the contest really attacks the ball hard on the inside and will go in for it. Hes got above average pace and can also at times push forward and take a mark.

185cm, with speed. We can see the trend. Looks like a bit of a project, numbers are magical, but enough there that obviously we think he's worth it.

Thought we might go Templeton from Tassie though

Projects to be a big bodied midfielder/utility once he he fills out. Good in close and feeding the ball out - constructive and creative handball ability. More of a handball first guy.

He's a great young fella and his old man is a keen Dees fan! From Devon Meadows JFC originally, where my young bloke plays. Had a good year at the Rays, wins his own ball and distributes pretty well in traffic. Was looked at to go late in the National Draft.

Any relation to Wayne? And by association Norm Smith..?

Looks good in his video on the AFL website, although it is short.

Exactly as advertised - quick hard attack on the footy, good size.

Coached this year by one of our finest - The Yeater.

Anyone know if he put a word in for the kid?

my very first thought also...not a shabby pedigree if so

I mentioned this guy in the name your rookie prospects thread as a mid I was keen on along with about 4 or 5 others.

Good pace and good agression and he'll put heat on the likes of Bail & Tapscott no doubt.

Moves like Paul Kelly.

Disclaimer: I never said he was as good, would captain his team or win a brownlow.

Harmes doesn't look like Homer Simpson.

didn't know you were a paul berry fan robbie LOL

anyway when i first saw pic of harmes i immediately thought of beattie (a younger one of course)

Good little story on him and he seems pretty confident and motivated to make a career for himself. Best of luck to him, and good to see he's a local from the Casey area also.

Would have rathered someone else like Battersby, Templeton or Cavarra, but you don't win them all.

Hopefully he goes well for us.

All the best Harmes.

So basically anyone you'd already heard of on bigfooty, or seen on TAC Cup FutureStars, we get it.

It is much better a player like Harmes who really wants to play for us than a kid who is always looking to swap across to the team that he supported at school.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
