New Major Sponsor: Automotive Holdings Group (AHG)

I dropped the MFC membership early in the first conversation. Perhaps that pushed the price up.

The sales person probably supports Collingwood.

It was not just the price

And why should I bb?

The other dealers are giving me a cheaper price without any push from me.

My gut feel was that the sales person did not see me as a potential customer.

But the others did.

Do you think we get second rate companies sponsoring the MFC

LOL - they got to pay for their sponsorship somehow od

I get the feeling that maybe mentioning that you are a supporter made the salesman think you were a guaranteed sale regardless... or he knew the price would put you off.

Either way, I knew they were open to individual sales, but aren't they primarily into fleet vehicles?

A Collingwood supporter that's employed? C'mon Old Dee.

I see. Well then, maybe he thought you'd be true to the stereotype of a dees supporter and would be intending to support a club sponsor without much regard for price.

I'm just guessing, but car salesman often make quick character judgments. It's how they work.

In any case, I've had no dealings with them.

Once again, what on earth do you mean by that?

And it shouldn't be news that we aren't any potential AFL club sponsor's first choice, unless they already have some sort of existing relationship with the club.

Like anyone else, they'd prefer to be associated with success.

Theres an easy buying technique with cars... just keep one eye permanently peeled on the door..

make the bastards work for it... and screw them down....then walk away.. and wait for the call..lol

That was technique used to get daughters new car ( shes paying btw ) but doesnt like the dance...I find it fun :)

did you turn up in a dress and long wig?

car salesmen are notorious for ripping off females

you could have just explained your "condition"

Female Sales person dc.

and I was in business attire.

I did get as Machsy suggested the feeling that I was an easy target as a Dees supporter but I may have imagined that.

Go In again and speak to a different salesperson and if they treat you the same tell the manager that due to poor service and attitude you won't be buying from then and drop the names and prices you have from other dealers without even negotiating yet. And as stated walk if need be, don't be rude, or anything just simply state that due to costs and service you are going elsewhere. Even re state due to the overall companies association with MFC you came there and that you intend to let the head office know of the service you reviewed.

Depends on who you speak to Old Dee. The fact that AHG is an ASX200 company, some would find that we only deal with the elite companies now.

Personally, I think the companies that we've been associated with in the last decade are in competitive marketplaces and given the ease of finding a cheap price for products, whether directly through the supplier or through third party agreements.

I realise that all clubs/companies are in the same boat, but from us members point of view, we can only give our sponsors the opportunity to get our money, it's up to them how much they want it. Some will shop around, and if you're anything like me, saving $3000 is well worth shopping around for.

Even a company like Hertz can often be dearer dealing directly with them, even with the member discount. Websites like vroom vroom can often give you a price that even the Hertz yards can't give you.

I don't think you're unlucky with your dealings with our current/previous sponsors, but I don't think we deal with second rate sponsors either.

Was quite funny really...daughter asked later of it all " why are you so hard on them?" Laughed my face off almost.

Had to explain to young lass..Im not hard, as I explained to said salesman I'm dead easy to deal with. Just give me exactly what i want., lets start from that point and move forward....and no BS !!

I am a salesman bb so I know every trick going.

However that in fact may occasionally put me in the wrong situation when I am the customer.

I tend to go a little easy on them.

However If I think I am not being taken seriously I walk fairly quickly.

Anyway just interested in peoples opinions as IMO I have had ordinary contact with the majority of MFC sponsors that I have contacted over the years.

I usually end up somewhere else spending my money.

Yep $3000 will be in my pocket you can bet on that.

Are you sure? I am not suggesting we go looking for second rate companies but we are usually desperate and MAY take whatever is available.

That MAY mean we get less than the top.

e.g. "Energy watch"

In all seriousness..as explained to lil girl ..Cars are expensive I dont lose sleep over saving thousands. I dont really care about the salesperson.. Im polite but firm. i dont budge. its my money I can walk away. its their choice..they can work for the com..its what they do after all.

I suppose its an interesting position though with a sponsor who sells cars. I mean some poor scmucks pay the sticker price, thats their decision I guess.

I would feel no more beholding to an AHG dealer than any other.. I might out of loyalty to the club at least give them a chance to make an offer. After that ...all bets off, unless AHG want to pay my mortgage etc

See the next line bb

anyway you can be fairly certain that AHG will not be selling me my next car.

When the lovely one rings me I will tell her sorry the horse has bolted.

Too dear .

energy watch should have raised a few alarms (pi)

they didn't even make or sell watches

I understand all that bb

I just thought I would give them a chance as they were the New MFC major sponsor.

They are not even close to where I live.

I have done the right thing by the MFC but AHG don't measure up.

Life goes on.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
