Fixture ok...could be a lot worse.

Its time we embrace Stinklands as venue and learn to master it. Still hate the place though.

Why cant we get a home game against essendon at the G. Three years in a row now.

It's the cost of having a guaranteed home game against the Pies on Queens Bday every year.

Five Saturday night games. First bye comes is Round 10 (after Richmond, before Alice Springs). Second bye is Round 18 (second week of the split round).

Because it is part of Essendon's punishment? Let them be saddled with the low gate returns.

Overall it is not bad relative to our under achieving. A huge bonus not to go back to Geelong.

Hope the boys put on a better performance at Skoda this year. I'll be cheering on Tyson :)

Two Sunday twilight games (away v Essendon in Round 13, home v North Melbourne in Round 14).

Two Saturday twilight games (away v Adelaide in Round 7, away v Hawthorn in Round 20).

About time we play Geelong and North Melbourne at the MCG!

Btw I don't reckon the fixture is that bad at all? chance for some early wins.

No, neither. Both of them are once-only games, home games (Brisbane at Etihad).

Dreadful draw from a commercial point of view and the game at Etihad is just another kick in the guts.

We cannot make any money from this draw and I'm sure that PJ is less than happy, there are two games where we will make a profit Collingwood and Geelong.

Interesting return trips against Port, North who are middle-top tier teams, and repeats against West Coast who had an off year pose some threat. Some good home games though.

Queens Birthday home again helps us. Better revenue than last year, but slightly harder fixture game wise. Enjoy Paul.

I reckon our run up to the bye is sensational, with only Swans top 6, and the rest within the realm of possibility...

Really need to used the first half of the season to build some confidence and momentum.

Interesting.

If (big if) we can get a win against the Saints in Round 1, you'd hope that our opening home game in Round 2 could pull a decent figure (more decent than what we're going to get in Round 21 v GWS, anyway). But yes, the draw is financially abysmal.

It is good in that respect

We are a sneaky chance to be up 4-1 for mine

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
