Who will we delist next week?

OK, now that trading is almost done our club gurus have to decide on final delistings.

So far 8 have gone - Davey, Davis, Gillies, Macdonald, Rodan, Sellar, Sylvia, Tynan plus Couch (rookie).

We have already picked up five - Tyson, Vince, Michie, Cross and Hogan.

Magner has to come on list as upgrade (unless he's delisted) and Clisby could be retained on rookie list or upgraded.

I can't imagine us not utilising three picks in draft, so that means at least one and possible two still need to be shown door next week.

Can I have your thoughts on likely two:

Almost all are already contracted, so it would appear we will need to cut someone who has a year to run on current deal.

Taggert and Jetta are uncontracted I believe. Bail, Blease, Tapscott, Strauss all have a year to run

I think we only have 3 out of contract.

Out of contract: Taggert, Nicho and Jetta.

Would like to get rid of Nicho (time is up - he is not part of our future)

Wouldn't mind lossing Jetta (could have a place as a small forward due to lack of opportunities though)

Would hate to lose Taggert (has lots of potential but has been plagued by injury)

Stark may not get a second year on the rookie list

Depending on how many spots we want to free up I reckon it would go in that order.

Out:

Davey (retired)

Rodan (retired)

MacDonald (retired)

Tynan (delisted)

Sellar (delisted)

Gillies (delisted)

Davis (delisted)

Couch* (delisted)

Sylvia (Free Agent)

In:

Hogan (automatic inclusion)

Michie (trade)

Tyson (trade)

Vince (trade)

Cross (delisted free agent)

Pick 9 (Freeman)

Pick 40 (Giles)

Pick 57 (J. Kolodjashnij)

Rookie Pick 2 (Thorp)

My Pick of what'sto come.

Out:

Jetta (delisted)

Nicholson (delisted)

Magner* (delisted)

In:

Pick 94 (Pongracic)

Pre-Season Draft Pick 2: (Garlett)

Rookie Pick 20 (Lever)

Would of loved to sign Weller as a delisted free agent instead of use Pick 94, but it sounds like Essendon will land him. I think Pongracic will be a great get at Pick 94 though and will add grunt and run to our midfield.

*For rookie listed player

Mr Spicable, I don't understand the numbers we need to get down to, but I know I'd like to keep the small forward types, for 1 more year. so Byrnes & Jetta.

I'd like to see Clisby® elevated onto the list, & I haven't seen Stark play, so I can't comment re him?

of these > I've put them into my order of interest, Byrnes, Jetta, Blease, Taggert, Tapscott, Bail, Dunn, Nicholson, Magner ®. So I think in my mind the time is up for any of these who are too slow, &/or haven't shown the tenacity to hold their ground on our list.

so I think some should be traded out of (Blease, Taggert, Tapscott, Bail, Dunn, Nicholson, & Magner ®),,, & some just cut.

over to you monsieur.

Stark may not get a second year on the rookie list

Pretty sure interstate rookie gets two year?? Happy to be corrected but.

Yeah Nicho&/Jetta are no gr8 losses, but I'd like to keep Taggert.

Who ever the hell Roos thinks needs to go.

I would go with that.

i think bail is prob most likely to be first up, id still like to see nicho in a tag role given his run ability. unfortunately magner will prob be gone. with 5 mids in theres only so many we can hold on to.

Fortunately we do have a bit of room in the cap if we need to pay someone out for more than this year. Not an ideal option, but one I'd like to think they may consider.

Bail contracted one more year unfortunately

Nicholson & Magner must be first cabs off the rank.

after that we have to wait on what players we draft.

I believe this is correct

Bail contracted one more year unfortunately

We should pay him out and delist for his own good and ours. Too many concussions.

A decided validity to this thinking. Guy needs to think big picture...its just footy.

I reckon Roos will keep Nicho.. can gut run and Roos loves those guys that can run. Just remember guys we Geoge Stone on board who taught Kennelly how to kick. First job for stoney!

Magner gone - dont understand why but obviously a problem somewhere

Taggart - round 2 pick (36 overall) 2011 draft and has not cracked a game in the worst team in the comp. Another shocking draft pick

Jamar - trade

Taggert - delist

Magner - delist

Bail - trade only

Dom Barry - downgrade to rookie (still to skinny - no rush)

Jetta- only delist if we have too.

WOULD be stoked to delist Pedersen and pay out never happy to get him and dont feel he has anything to offer

Roos might do good things with perderson.

Roos also wanted to draft Gysberts, could there be a rookie position available, third time lucky, and the boy really could find the ball.

We really need a small forward, garlett would be perfect.

There is so many VFL standard players in the team to choose from

Strong word Byrnes will retire. Not sure who else is going, but expect at least another 2.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
