I have little doubt that Aish will be able to improve his contested footy as he gets stronger, as will Toumpas. But I don't see either as "inside mids".

Toumpas is more a straight ahead player, who distributes the ball really well. He likes to get on the end of a chain of disposals and set up play. He could actually make a very good half-back, where he's played a fair bit of footy as a junior.

I haven't seen enough of Aish and certainly haven't seen him live, so I'm not well equipped to comment, but from what I have seen I believe he has more upside as an all-round mid than Toumpas.

I doubt that Toumpas will ever be a Robbie or Travis he will probably be a very serviceable player and that's about it, Robbie and Trav were exceptionally talented players.

Travis was lazy and set low standards for himself, I've got no doubt that Toumpas will be a more consistent player than Travis.

If anything at all, the only reason Travis may belong in this conversation is to prove that sometimes really talented kids take a while and that's why we shouldn't write them off early, as that was definitely true for Johnstone.

Agree! Two totally different mindsets Robbie and Travis.However, I think Jimmy's mindset is far closer to Robbie's than Travis's. Therefore success looms imminent for Jimmy imo.

Oly real comparisons here are Toumpas / viney or Wines. any one with half a foorball brain know that Bynes/pederson/rodan etc were nothing more than top up players. They were never recruited to make the club strnoger but merely to be ready to play when required.

The first time I saw Travis play I could see he had enormous talent, unfortunately he was just too lazy to achieve what he should have; he was nowhere the footballer that Robbie was but he had exceptional talent nonetheless.

Aish has agility in and around packs reminiscent of Cotchin.

I think he'll be an absolute gem, working on the inside and out with aplomb.

Edit: agree with you assessment of Toumpas.

He'll run in long straight lines and deliver the ball long into the forward line.

I think he'll be best-suited to the wing.

Not sure about how he'll go winning a lot of his own ball in his first few years, but he'll get there.

I see a bit in Toumpas unlike most of the scribes in this thread.

His first 5 or so games under Neeld were a complete write off. The kid had no idea what he was doing.

But under Craig I saw something. I saw a young player that had a bit of time before distribution of footy, I saw a mid that made some smart decisions, unlike most of the mfc turkeys that ran around.

If anyone watched the last game of the year v bulldogs they would've seen the most immaculate inside 50 pass from Toumpas to Dunn in that last qtr.

I honestly see something in Toumpas. I see a footballer that has an extra few seconds to distribute a nice possession.

I'm an unabashed fan of the thumper. Not since Jack Watts have I seen a bloke be so unmercilessly crucified by his own supporters for no reason at all. Mind you I've done some Watts bashing, but not in his first year FCS. I've seen Thump do some things that I liked very much and I reckon he'll be a good one
