MFC's Virgin Australia Film Festival Video

This is the (good) flip side to all the Mad Mondays and other behaviour that can go wrong with 'Brotherhoods'. I know for a fact that each player is only compelled/contracted for very few non sponser/ compulsory events and these get taken up very quickly - this is very much a player driven in terms of wanting to be involved and JW and NJ stand a few inches taller in my eyes for it. Not everything has to be about cash, taking time and showing respect have worth too. I think the club if it has a social policy (not sure will check) should put its cash into engaging with youth, its where with a young group of men (our footballers) you will get most value for the most people. There are other services to help these guys of which they are most deserving. And the former CEO may have been a bit of a nong at people management, but he would have made sure cases like this got game tickets and the club i know and love has always been good at looking after special cases (and i don't see why it would have changed with PJ.

I did & I loved it... I certainly don't want to pour cold water on a great initiative...

my post is about the club following this up with support for Sam... remember, its Sam who is sick, & the interests of Sam's son, is best served by us helping Sam.

....... lets not put the cart before the horse.

We continually devalue life, by making everything about the romance of the so-called most vulnerable, (kids) & then once they're 19 or 20 the romance is over & we then tend to demonise males.

Hence, to me this should be about Sam in his hour of need, which inturn helps his son. by all means give gifts to the boy... but its Sam who needs the help & support. he is the one out on the limb by himself

Perhaps seeing the joy on his little boy's face is just the tonic he needed. If cynicism is your first option, perhaps you are best off just saying nothing. To me your words are totally redundant in this instance.

Well done Nugget and Jack and I trust Sydney and his dad will see more Dees wins next year and well into the future.

What a beautiful kid. Have a read of the comments on the MFC website and read what opposition supporters think of the video. Well done Nathan and Jack you did us proud! Jack was so big brotherly or even fatherly when he played with young Sydney and so gentle leading him onto the ground. I have always loved the mighty demons for more years than most of you (maybe even you Old Dee). This little story has made me more passionate than ever. Go Dees, go Roosy 2014.

For all the [censored] Jack cops on here you can never fault his relationship with kids. To see that beautiful child's face light up when he saw Jack walk into the living room with a cake is a moment im sure he will never forget.

That kid has a twinkle in his eyes its a beautiful sight to see.

Surely us supporters can donate some sort of donation to help these guys out?

Excellent but lets really nail this one.

I hope Virgin offer the kid and his dad a holiday somewhere.

If we win does that mean we basically win a free trip to some altitude training?

Surely Riewoldt's used all his bandwidth by now, back to the mirror big fella. Nobody else would watch the crap

Yes

In reference to the person that one visit isnt worth that much.

I'd like to remind you that Colin Sylvia does this is in his spare time, he visits hospitals.

Colin is very big of his charity and finds it valuable

Because more people enjoy watching footballers being tools than being charitable.

There is no doubt that our boys deserve to win, and that their video is head and shoulders above the other dumb entries made by foolish footballers.

If nothing else, I hope Virgin sends this adorable kid and his dad on a well deserved holiday.

I had my car washed this morning and this big bald guy covered in tatts who was also getting his car washed saw the MFC sticker on the back of my car and asked me had I seen the Virgin clip about the young Melbourne supporter with the sick dad. He was a St Kilda supporter and told me he had a quiet cry after viewing it and hoped they won the prize. He said the St Kilda clip was rubbish (he actually used more colourful language than that).

I have watched the clip so many times and send all of my love to this beautiful boy and his brave dad.

I started the topic on this Vid the other day. It's a beautiful, moving slice of what impact football has on our culture.

Now, in short. If we share this enough Virgin will pay for altitude training flights to the US.
The most likes and shares by Grand Final day gets the prize

We're in a tight race with St Kilda and Fremantle currently but we really are in with a chance here.

Go to this link https://www.facebook.com/virginaustralia , like the Melbourne post and share it to your page.

Who knows what it will lead to.

Go Dees.

Yeah, its the top 3. I said 'the most' as not to be too precise. If i said top 3 people might have been less enthused.

You see i'm trying to be a bit manipulative. I'm a bad person you see.

Which should also mean don't be a dill and have a look or share of the OTHER clubs vids like some twits I've seen on Facebook. Go back and have a look after the comp is over if you're really that keen. I mean St Kilda players rapping WGAF! That's Mad Monday schoolboy stuff.

Well sometimes you just have to be bad to be good.

Not for Saint Kilda it ain't. I see no dwarves being set alight in that vid!!!! They should honestly be too embarrassed to submit an entry considering their behaviour.

The saints one is absolute trash. No wonder they are the laughing stock of the AFL!

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
