If Essendon players get infraction notices or have any health issues they'll be suing the club. What's more the majority of them crrently have no way of getting out of what they may believe was/is an unsafe working environment. If the AFL granted this option and Essendon players didn't take it up then I reckon those players would be on shaky ground suing Essendon in future.

Aren't there still question marks over his defensive running? I don't watch enough Essendon games because the sight of them makes me ill.

I mean of course I'd take him in a heartbeat based on talent alone, but I'd want to know more about what he would bring to a bottom club with issues to do with culture and work ethic.

Also agree with the thoughts of 'rpfc' and 'rhino', the competition of which we are part can't afford the club to be crippled. I'm not a fan at all but that is cutting your nose off....Hird should not be allowed back though, that's enough penance for me. The rest is up to ASADA.

if players are angry after being deceived, you can't stop them, or they could go public via the courts.... & then there would be mayhem.

That's pretty much what I was thinking.

They do actually have a pretty good case for being allowed to walk. If a player does something to disgrace the club the club has grounds to terminate their contract. This is a two way street. If the players have a reasonable case that the club put their welfare in jeopardy then should have the same ability to void the contract and walk away. The real question is whether the AFL allows them to do so as Free Agents or requires them to go through the draft. I actually think the draft wold be a better option for us as there is a pretty big question over whether we could talk a decent player into coming here as a FA.

Zaharakis was the player who refused to sign waiver or be involved in the injection program so may be worth a look. Goddard is also a good player who has no risk from infraction notices plus players drafted at the last draft,

The problem with every 2011 and 2012 Messendon player is they would have little value to any other Club until the final report is issued by the Drug Agency.

In other words they are trapped in Messendon at the moment.
