All who are calling for Taggert, Toumpas and Magner to get a senior game, I ask "why now"?

I watch Casey week in week out and you can see Toumpas developing at this level and Taggert has come on in leaps and bounds as well.

Granted, they couldn't do any worse than our current "firsts"!

Casey are trying to secure second spot on the ladder !

Leave them there to get some consistency in playing together and to gain some confidence from playing finals.

Some maybe unaware but in previous years the MFC have screwed Casey by playing guys in the last couple of rounds and making them ineligible to play at Casey in their finals campaign.

Let's have these guys play finals and hopefully go all they way for Casey !

I think that experience and development will far out weigh debuting Taggert and co.

Completely agree.

Tell the player he has done the work and made the standard to earn an MFC game and then tell him he can do more for his own development by continuing to play for Casey and stamp his authority on games he WILL play in the finals. Games that will set him up for round 1 next year.

All players should always strive to play in the 'ones'. The club should always reward performance that demands promotion. No matter what th cost to Casey.

Shouldn't of been playing anyway.

I was having this discussion with my old man three weeks ago, telling him MFC only has 2 things going for it, Viney and Hogan.

And there is no use Hogan running around in the VFL after the mid way mark, what do they expect?

What does the Melbourne Football TEAM or CLUB expect to gain by playing them?

Frankly I have had enough over the past 5 years of seeing our youth thrown to the wolves under the disguise of 'development'. And I am sick of seeing our 'potential' talent psychologically derailed by being played too early in poor performing teams.

How about we use these last few games to throw the challenge at some senior players like Joel Mc. Sellar, Rodan. etc. to play for their careers?

I reckon the specialists work weekends of they get paid enough. Question is, do we need to know?apart from to sate our interest? Treatment the first few days will be the same Regardless I imagine, and the doc/physio would be able to tell from physical examination what the problem is, the scan will just confirm what it is, the extent of the injury and show up any other issues as well (I.e. Other damaged tissue that isn't the worst of the injury).

The docs might not be in but if he is getting a scan today he will have an idea today; they might not tell the layman but the guys doing scans normally have some idea how to read em!

He is a Rookie and was only on the senior list for a short spell early in the season and now again from last week after Mitch Clarke was put on the long term injury list.

He Couch and Clisby are a lock for upgrades to the senior list at the end of this season IMO.

I think it can be invaluable to give young players a taste of AFL footy late in the year. You hear many players say that it helped drive them during the next pre season having had a taste and realising where they need to get to. EG Tom McDonald. This could be great for Taggert

Fingers crossed , but there's no doubt he will have the results in the next 2 hrs, the way this club operates we probably won't find out to tommorow, as people saying he shouldn't be playing that's stupidity what else is he meant to do on a Saturday during footy season, if he's done an ACL that will be a bitter pill, twice as bad as Mitch.

Anyone know if Toumpas is eligible for VFL finals? Also Gawn and Spencer? Seems that they need at least 6 VFL games - is this the case with these three?

Jack Grimes was gifted a taste in the last round in his first year, and Fitzy was also given a token game in the last game one year, I think this is highly beneficial for a young players

confidence that they will be able to make it.

Contrast that with our Round 1 shenanigans every year where we always play at least one player from left field that completely underwhelms (see: Cockatoo-Collins x2, Weetra, Gillies etc)...

This argument is raised all the time.

It's utter crap.

You can do your knee at training. You can roll your ankle running in the park. Essentially, you can get injured at any time, it's often nothing but luck.

I'd rather Hogan continue to build confidence and understanding at Casey.

I understand what you are saying.

However, I think he is a great short term fix for a deficient area in our team at the moment; but NOT necessarily a long term prospect.

Our only other alternative is to recruit some young 'potential' and through them to the wolves......again.

Give him two years.

I believe he and Magner have the right work ethic on and off the field to be outstanding role models if nothing else......and both will contribute and compete week in week out more than any first year prospect....making the whole team more competitive, and the club a better place to be as a result.
