We could lose Jesse Hogan

Featured Replies

Posted

Its been reported today that Jesse wont agree to a contract extension.

He says he just wants to concentrate on getting a senior game next year.

Gold Coast has managed to get an extension out of Jack Martin, butvwe cant do the same with Hogan.

If he doesnt sign by the end of next year, he will be out of contract and everyone will be after him, no doubt throwing obsene amounts of money at him.

Im worried we might lose him.

Reported where? (why don't people provide links to back up these kinds of statements?)

Coupled with the fact he seems obviously homesick (check out his Instagram feed) and there are worrying signs.

But then, who could blame an 18 year old kid for not wanting to commit to the worst club in the league, which happens to be on the other side of the country to his family.

Even out of contract players need the club to agree to a trade in order to leave. We can just say no.

Otherwise they have to risk going to the draft and ending up somewhere they don't want to be.

No one else will get sucked in the way we did with Luke Ball.

I for one am not panicking.

Says we haven't even offered him a contract extension, nothing about him not agreeing to anything.

Thanks for that... so DeeZee has either cited a different (anonymous) source, or he is suffering from a rather extreme case of MFCSS.

the latter im thinking

he is contracted til 2015, i know for a fact he is loving melbourne so im not concerned at all infact well done to the young man.

Is it too early to put Hogan on the Demonland banner?

Your right im probably just paranoid

Yes. You are. Extremely.

Please refrain from hastily creating threads in the future.

Geez demonland is a happy place to get info.

Bloody hell nearly every thread is bad news (or supposedly bad news)

I need to find my happy place.

Have we offered him a contract extension - maybe. I'm sure we would've at least discussed it.

But it's not really an issue.

And his homesickness is likely real but again it's not a huge problem right now. We've deliberately managed him and given him plenty of trips home to Perth so he stays healthy and fresh mentally and physically. I fully expect as he starts playing games over the next 2 seasons he'll get more of a sense of pride for the jumper. Plus he'll keep making new friends and settling in.

Every club has had guys who are completely homesick early and then once they settle in can't imagine ever leaving.

The most important thing we can do for Hogan is turn up next year and cheer when he does something good and not be too hard on him if he struggles to adapt to AFL level straight away.

we have not at this point even tabled a formal offer is my understanding, i suppose someone may have bought up the idea with jesse but a five year contract now just adds un needed and un wanted expectations right now.

Fact is there is no contract extension for Hogan, and no one knows if one has been tabled or not.

Gold Coast have extended Martins contract and we havent.......just saying.

Ill create a thread if i want to and if i think it will create discussion.

Im not a serial ridiculous thread creator like some on here .

Jose Mourinho?

Jose Mourinho?

Whatever happened to that guy? A year ago his posts were everywhere.

Jack Martin signs contract extension and Jesse Hogan doesn't so Hogan must be gone. Isn't the Human brain amazing in how it can make logic jumps like that?

When Hogan's contract expires in two years from now he'll have a nice Melbourne local girlfriend, will be living with a couple of his best mates that he'll have been playing footy with for 3 years, and will have had a taste of the absolute worship that will come with being a star footballer. Even if he's homesick now, if he still is by late 2015 I'll be staggered.

Find him a Melbourne girl ( the place, not the club ) ..... that should do the trick

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
