If we keep holding it up and kicking to a contest we are going to continue to get brutalised. They are far superior and frankly hungrier in winning contested ball so its just going to keep coming back the other way. If we can just get some possession chains going I'll be happy.

Davey MUST get into this game. 4 disposals in a half of footy. Turn it up Aaron, you're a senior player. Start playing like one.

They were saying that on the radio we just take too long to clear the ball out if the back line, bit like we were doing 5 or 6 weeks ago.

Ricciuto and King agree.

"Melbourne's effort today has been first class and they're just up against an opposition that is just too good for them."

"You just want to see the players have a go and young kids come through - and they're ticking those boxes."

Have you ever watched TV before? Do you understand why they're saying that when it's clearly no 100% true?

Clisby need a to have more attack on the ball.. Always behind! Too lazy

"Dream on," "You are a dill" and "are you watching the game?"

Some intelligent responses coming out

Terrible!! Not trying to sound so negative but a lot of these playing are vfl best

Conditions are crap but Dawes is hopeless today. Absolutely hopeless.

You have no idea about football.

Absolutely none.

Ah yes. Of course. so simple. They said it because they didn't believe it...

About as good as the time you claimed the players had stopped tackling... after those same players laid 55 tackles in a half of footy...

Oh ok, so we've stopped running and tackling because we're playing the best team... Good strategy.

44 to 14 inside 50's not much chance to do a lot.

Wet weather is hurting is we are dropping lots of marks.

In good conditions Watts would have taken another 5.

Seriously mate, have you watched this kind of footy on TV before? Do you realize that they're instructed to try and be positive about the team getting smashed for the sake of ratings?

Secondly, use your eyes mate, you think the tackling has been good today do you? Far out.

Steven Johnson's opponent today = Casey next week.

I have no idea who it is though, because nobody is ever near him.

I get that but he isn't bringing ball to ground. He's playin dumb wet weather footy.

I do appreciate the conditions are impossible. But Watts is playing more intelligent footy.

What a boring argument.

One person uses logic, stats, quotes and thought to construct an argument.

The other person responds with generalisation and throw away comments, not to mention mis-truths.

This will be my last post on this issue as I believe I have stated my point of view pretty clearly and the thread will get nothing out of it continuing.

stu, you're overplaying the lack of effort. We're ahead of them in tackles and one percenters. It's not even comparable to previous efforts this year. The effort is there. The knowledge and skill is not.

Effort has been better in the 3rd quarter, and of course better than under Neeld, but we've been shown up for gutless in these conditions.

Jimmy toumpas hasn't touched it this qtr. And I turned the radio on at the start of the 3rd. has he been moved or injured??

Can't say Dawes can be blamed for anything today.

Inside 50s this quarter are 20-1. He's a tall forward being played 2 on 1 in terrible conditions.

Flood gates are opening...

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
