How cvan you single AmnyOne out after 45 Yrs of failing Boards??? can't you see the obvious, that we can Never get a footy board inplace in nearly 50Yrs... half adecade of boards not understanding footy & winning footy people... biases, No we won't have Matthews, no we won't have Sheedy, No we don't like anyone who ruffles our feathers...

stop looking for scapegoats & See the real picture here...

You see, this is what's wrong with all our discussions on this topic.

You're sounding like WYL.

If we have been so rotten for 45 years with failing boards all that time how is it we played in two grand finals and, I dunno, five or six or seven prelims in the period 1987-2006 and what, a dozen (?) finals series over that period?

The facts are we did have it right for substantial periods so stop exaggerating. Under Stuart Spencer there was the 'give R Flower one more chance to play in a finals series campaign' that resulted in sustained finals action. We were stiff to run into a grand final against a power team at the peak of its powers on two occasions. Imagine if we had Adelaide's luck and encountered a grand final novice like the Saints instead.

All this we have been hopeless since 1964 is horseshit and the sort of tripe WYL specialises in - leave it to Mr Glass Half Empty and remember we can and did sometimes get it right.

(Pleased to set you straight with a milestone posting.)

first job on the list for pj

how can we pay 95% of what Collingwood pays

example .swan, pendl,brown,thomas ,beames,cloke

we haven't got any players up to that standard, so how the hell are we paying so much in players wages

don't throw rocks at me , just compare lists and money PAID

btw you don't get paid on potential, this weve got plenty but so has everybody else

our first class players don't even come close to other clubs yet we pay an exhorbidant overprice amazing

GET THIS RIGHT

Stop looking at an abstract painting DL. We know you hate the Northern Stand ok.

Finally the club will get the right people to run THE BUSINESS because the AFL actually do regard us as an asset.

I beg your pardon???

Do you realize where these cowboys have left our club????

With a payout that is equal to a decade in my job.

Time for you to grow up Stuie.

We should be able to charge these clowns with treason.

I agree with you WYL...Don't need any more BS from people like Stuie...He will always have a "half empty" glass... Say what you like Stuie because nothing you say will bother me. I am over your era and anyone who wants to stay in it with you...! Either get on board now and forget the past and be around when the culture of this club changes .. FOR THE BETTER... Any more negatives should be condemned...This is the beginning of a new era... Get with it or stay behind and wallow in the old, destructive. weak culture.. Go Peter Jackson and anyone else wishing to help our once great Club.. Tell it how it is/has been... I, along with thousands of others, I am sure, welcome your approach .. MFC needs a complete overhaul.. I couldn't care less what CS or MN or anyone else did ,, I would rather forget all of that and move on.. If PJ doesn't fix it the MFC is history.. !! .

The point is in 2013 WE have not "got it right" and living in the past will do nothing to get it right..Fark what has happened and move on ..looking behind takes minds off the job ahead ..Get on board or miss the train to future success... Choose your preference... GO the "new" progressive Melbourne Football Club..We have a chance to clear the rubble and rebuild.. Let's take it.. Negatives don't interest me... So don't bother directing them towards me.. :)

CB if you couldn't see that you're kidding yourself. Would you want to stay at Melb as a 25, 25+yr old player? No chance. It's still a bleak future at this stage, I'd be looking at my options if playing finals was a key priority. If money was, I'd stay at Melb as I doubt many if any if out players would get pay rises going to other clubs.

of course I could see that

what I said is that the club has never before told us truth as awful as that

I think (well hope) that is turning around now 'dee', there is little doubt in my mind that the reason we didn't get a senior coach last appointment was because of the ruffled feathers thing you talk about.

Eade who was the pick at that time wouldn't have towed the party line so easily whereas a rookie coach preaching the values the powers at the time wanted to hear was the ideal choice.

I'm not blaming the Last 5 years at all because they stopped sitting on their hands & took action.. that in itself is a big step in the right direction... its a start.

they made mistakes trying to sort out half a century of mess & nothingness. I would rather we tried & messed up rather than be conservative & be Grey.

i take my hat off for the courage of the past 5 years & we must Keep the take it on have a go attitude, but we have to learn where we keep making mistakes. & that is the boards Do Not understand the difference between Winning footy people, & just nice footy people.... including the Coaches.

genius coaches, (footy wise) are not easily understood, & sometimes passionately disliked by many... the reason people don't understand them is because they often work on higher frequency than the average.... & this can be why they are misunderstood & undervalued, clubs opting for cheaper imitations.

we've tended to hire coaches & footy people, who fit our likes, likes around the turn of the Century.... we took a likeable young chap... & we got what we looked for...

nice guys since the early 90's, & no flags with some handy lists. as Peter Jackson has reiterated, we have to Lose the nice Guy, holier than thou, attitude.

I do not have hate in me WYL... its not part of my personal makeup... & that is why I do not look for scapegoats. If I make a mistake, the person I'll blame is Me.

but I do not feel much respect, for anyone who wants to keep others at bay... & continually holds power over, & neglects those in its domain.

HaHaHa,,, so have I.... I had a reserved seat for a season in the tridents area..

Its Not about the people, the people are nice. But when it comes to our footy Club, one of the big reasons we fail, is we're too nice... as PJ has just said recently, about the Club. & IMO, we don't have Enough of the so called riff raff...

I think we need to stop having our Board so Influenced by the Northern Stand Culture & thinking... & IMO after 45 Yrs of boards that have been, & haven't met any real fanfare whatsoever, other than the D'ck Seddon admin, which was heavily footy focused...

But IMO, One of the reasons we have a struggling supporter base at the bottom end, is I think our boards have over-represented the Northern Stand (MFC/MCC) at our other supporters neglect.

And the fact we have never had a training ground with social club... this is where relationships at the grassroots begin, & family involvements can take shape...

I'm a Jeans & 'T' shirt type of person... I can mingle with anyone, & have a Najee suit, & Dinner jackets, but I can't stand them really, & would myself prefer to support from the Outer. or the Ponsford stand.

I just like the freedom to be able to move, where I want, when I want...

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
