Injury List - Round 13

Featured Replies

Misson said today that Michael Evans is out for up to a month with a similar injury to Viney.

Grimes is going 'really well', trained with the group for the first time yesterday, and should be ready to go at the end of his LTI-required 8 weeks (in 3 weeks).

Viney is also 3 weeks away but is going well too.

MacDonald will be tested tomorrow. McKenzie had a 'mild hyperextension' of his elbow but should be OK.

Dawes and Frawley are both to be tested. Frawley is surprising with his running, so he's a chance for this week, whilst Dawes had last week off his legs and so looks OK this week. Said we won't know until later in the week.

Misson report

Round 13 injury list

Mitch Clark (foot) indefinite

Chris Dawes (ankle) test

Michael Evans (foot) 4 weeks

James Frawley (hamstring) test

Jack Grimes (shoulder) 3 weeks

Joel Macdonald (foot) test

Jordie McKenzie (elbow) test

Jack Viney (toe) 3 weeks

Put Mitch on the LTI and elevate Couch already FFS!

Tell Mitch his preseason break starts now, and he has until the start of September to go on holidays. After that, he has a month of "light duties" and will be ready to go day 1 of the new preseason training.

They can elevate a rookie after Rd 11 anyway.

Thats what they thought last year.

Thank God Mckenzie has not injured his leg I would hate to see his kicking style affected.

Shattered Pickles is out.

Glad he's out myself.

Firstly the break will do Michael no harm.

I believe he needs to tighten up defensively. He spreads well, especially offensively but several times isn't able to work back as hard as his opponent. Similar to Blease.

Hope Craig can work with him on this. Footage of what he does, footage of who does it well and direct training for it.

What's with all the foot injuries????

must be the new balance foot ware. New Balance were bought on in Cameron Schwab's tenure therefore it is Schwab's fault

god i cant wait for this weeks game

and guess what

we only have to wait until Saturday for once

when was the last time we didnt need to name an extended bench

The Inveterate Prognosticators won't know what to do with themselves

They forgot to add;

Nick Smith 4-6. On the other hand it may have been 426 weeks all along, which is just over 8 seasons...expect a surprise inclusion very soon.

Bloody hell. Evans has been good and it just sucks another good player has gone down. Im soooooooooooo over this season. Just bring on 2014.

No, put Mitch in full time rehab. His injury requires careful attention. He can have a holiday at seasons end. This time s crucial to his long term future

Round 3 against West Coast was our last non-Sunday/Monday game.

However, we've only got two more Sunday games to go (Round 15 vs Sydney; Round 21 vs Fremantle; funnily enough, our last two home games at the G), though I suspect the final Round 23 game against the Dogs will be scheduled on a Sunday too (twilight, probably).

What's with all the foot injuries????

Clark - incredible rare unusual injury

Macdonald - gym injury, his fault

Viney and Evans - first year players, they'd probably be playing if we were competing for finals but they're doing the right thing as first year guys (Evans is a rookie in my eyes)

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
