WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - PAUL ROOS

Featured Replies

To have a high profile coach such as Paul Roos would just be an awesome coupe for our club. We haven't had a high profile coach since Barrasi back in the 1980s, sure Northey was a great coach but to possible have Roos would be exciting!

I couldn't care if we had to pay him well over a million a year for 5 years, the long term gain and membership gain could well be huge in a short space of time. If you want classy people you must fork out!

it's true

you pay peanuts, you get monkeys

He said "If you asked me 'am I interested in coaching,' I'd say 'No.' But I can only answer for right now. If you ask me that question tomorrow, next month or next year, my answer might be different."

Nice job by the print media again in not providing the entire quote...

The more I think about it the more likely I think Roos will pass on coaching us and end up at WestC or BL.

Its the Melb way and yes I know things are diff now but I just cant see Roos coming to the dees. Its a feeling like he is thinking or may he has other offers available to him and he is tossing up which one to go for.

Hope I am wrong but its what I am feeling atm.

Keep punching. PJ.

Get him on the payroll.

I am tired of 2nd best. The AFL have given the MFC the green light to spend up big.

Now get the best. If we don't do it now, we will NEVER do it.

Roos has a price.

personally cant see him saying no to a huge AFL backed offer

There would be nothing to achieve for Paul Roos in taking on West Coast, plus he'd be a million miles away from anywhere.

I think we're well placed, if, and it's a big if, he wants to coach again.

There is no bigger challenge in AFL footy

I agree. The AFL want him as much as the MFC.

This is our time.

We must land the Big Fish as Nought did in '73

It really would be amazing if Roos turned it down - there is a guarantee of no failure as the AFL will not let us slip away, it's all up from here with the AFL's backing and Roos will be getting the accolades when we are back in the finals.

On top of that a huge salary and a chance to mould a young list with potential should see Roos accept the offer.

I hope, but I could be completely wrong. If it all fails and he turns us down I'm sure we'd get somewhere with Craigy.

WYL, I wish we were tired of getting 2nd best. Of recent times it feels like we've had to settle for 138th best!

At the West coast he gets all the above plus a better team to start with, warmer weather and a better place for Mrs Roos.

I think I know who I would pick!

Don't exaggerate billy it is only 18th best

If Roos decides to coach again it will be at the MFC.

I tend to think this too.

Other vacancies are just that. We however are THE challenge par none. Might frighten some, and we wouldn't want them. Might intrigue and appeal to another; this is our man.

It's quite funny how some on here are implying: "He wouldn't come to us. We are a basket case!"

And others implying: "He will come to us. We are THE basket case!"

Incongruous? ...maybe. Stupid? ...maybe. Melbourne? ...priceless.

May not be my best day rpfc but I am lost?

I like the following line from Roos himself in the "Dees bid for Roos" article in Real Footy today:

"I think it's got to be someone who you can sell to the members immediately because this is the hard thing for the Melbourne supporters - they may not win next year.''

As in not win a game?

As in not win a game?

I took that as we may not turn into world beaters.

IMO whoever coaches us next year it will be fairly lean win wise.

We will still have a sow's ear list with hope in a few good kids to come on quickly.

You do not turn around six years of blunders in five minutes.

i know what you mean.

No more cheap options.

They are cheap for a reason. Let the Rookies learn somewhere else.

We are the name of the city.

May not be my best day rpfc but I am lost?

Are you asking me if you are lost?

If you are... then yes, you are lost.

As I dees supporter rpfc the feeling is not new.

I was referring to your comment I have no idea what you were telling me!

it's true

you pay peanuts, you get monkeys

except with politicians ......(ie pay more still get monkeys)

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
