Luke Dunstan is heavily overrated by those that don't know.

I've watched a bit of him & been thoroughly unimpressed.

Most would be more interested if you articulated why.

Plough finished off his top 10 after stopping at 5 last week:-

1. GWS TOM BOYD (Eastern Ranges)

2. Melbourne JAMES AISH (South Australia)

3. St. Kilda JOSH KELLY (Sandringham Dragons)

4. W Bulldogs MATT SCHARENBERG (South Australia)

5. Gold Coast JACK BILLINGS (Oakleigh Chargers)

6. Brisbane DOM SHEED (Western Australia)

7. West Coast BEN LENNON (Northern Knights)

8. North Melbourne LUKE MCDONALD (Oakleigh Chargers F/S)

9. Carlton LEWIS TAYLOR (Geelong Falcons)

10. GWS MATT CROUCH (North Ballarat)

Josh Kelly would be a risk. Very skinny but top endurance and silky left foot.

Sound like exactly the type of player Melbourne will go after!

if we get a PP we need to draft scharenberg and crouch imo

Dominic Sheed who is a favourite among some has dropped our of Plough's top 10:-

1. GWS TOM BOYD (Eastern Ranges)

2. Melbourne JAMES AISH (South Australia)

3. St. Kilda JOSH KELLY (Sandringham Dragons)

4. W Bulldogs MATT SCHARENBERG (South Australia)

5. Gold Coast JACK BILLINGS (Oakleigh Chargers)

6. Brisbane BEN LENNON (Northern Knights)

7. West Coast LEWIS TAYLOR (Geelong Falcons)

8. North Melbourne LUKE MCDONALD (Oakleigh Chargers F/S)

9. Carlton MATT CROUCH (North Ballarat)

10. GWS DARCY GARDNER (Geelong Falcons)

might as well write melb next to 3 and 9 3 for pp and 9 for watts

Not a bad kick, but a bit of a plodder. Not overly quick or agile.

Not particularly great at reading the play.

Maybe Tapscott with a bigger tank?

I just was a bit disappointed, and can't understand the hype, beyond people being obsessed with not choosing another Morton/Watts marshmallow.

Plough stuffed up with his draft order by giving Essendon pick #9. In reality, Adelaide should be at #8 between Brisbane and North Melbourne. The Kangaroos will take Luke McDonald at #9. Unless they trade up, Essendon won't be seen until halfway through the third round. Plough's improver is tall Northern Knight midfielder Marcus Bontempelli who comes in at the expense of Dom Sheed. I actually like the look of him:-

1. GWS TOM BOYD (Eastern Ranges)

2. Melbourne JAMES AISH (South Australia)

3. St. Kilda JOSH KELLY (Sandringham Dragons)

4. W Bulldogs MATT SCHARENBERG (South Australia)

5. Gold Coast JACK BILLINGS

(Oakleigh Chargers)

6. West Coast BEN LENNON (Northern Knights)

7. Brisbane MARCUS BONTEMPELLI (Northern Knights)

8. North Melbourne LUKE MCDONALD (Oakleigh Chargers F/S)

9. Essendon MATT CROUCH (North Ballarat)

10. GWS DARCY GARDNER (Geelong Falcons)

Bontempelli is a cousin of Nick dal Santo and was featured on the TAC Cup: Future Stars programme and looks a gem.

Luke Dunstan will have a better career then aish and kelly. Is a born natural leader, tough as guts, clearence specialist, kicks goals, and would make a impact straight away like Wines has done this year.

Trust me he will make up for not having Wines there mark my words.

I worry that we won't even be in the first round of the draft. Roos is talking up the need for ready made players now I.e. we are offering number 2 for an established mid fielder. If we snaffle a top liner through free agency or we trade a big for a mid or we get a priority pick we may be chance to look at Luke. But I agree, depending on who we get prior to the draft, I go for the leader, hard nut. You don't need dozens of them but you need two or three and once you have them in place you can look at the highly skilled outsiders. Unfortunately we worked the other way, we looked for the fast running, lightly framed outsiders first, sprinkled with some lightly framed tall forwards. The rest will happen trust me. That is history. I hope we have learnt something.

are the any Ollie Wines/Jack Viney types of players in the draft?

This is the draft order so far -

1. GWS

2. Melbourne

3. St. Kilda

4. W Bulldogs

5. Gold Coast

6. West Coast

7. Brisbane

8. North Melbourne

9. Collingwood

10. GWS

11. Richmond

Adelaide and Essendon are out of the first two rounds.

Bontempelli is a young Pendles. Smooth mover and is tall. Get on him.

Earlier in the year, I said to keep an eye on a guy called Jake Owen from the cannons. He was highlighted today by Nick Dal Santo as a kid who should win the Morrish Medal ... definitely a great player with a great attitude.

Adelaide have no first or second round picks this year. Confirmed. However, they can trade into those rounds.

And of course, Ess have no 1st or 2nd rounders either.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
