You are getting really scary now.

If you feel like killing someone or anything, please ring a trusted loved and get help.

It's the bible, the Jeffism and the Michael Douglas avatar combo that is ringing bells.

Kennett has said our Coach must go. He has tonight threatened the elected Board and CEO and warned them not to pick a new Coach.

This from a Hawks supporter and non MFC member, who is therefore ineligible to stand for the MFC Board.

This self promoting, arrogant piece of work, is telling the elected board of the club and its officials not to go on with its business, because he may at some stage stand for election.

What an absolute disgrace.

We all want a unified club. It would be impossible under this bloke.

Spot on 'Redleg', we have a good operator now as CEO and we need to let him do what he has been brought in to do. For those wanting some outside influence at the club we've got it, for those who want to see change, we've got the guy who will bring it...just let him do his job and don't let Jeff be the issue here, he will be if we let him through the door.

Outside the box?

We have a AFL paratrooper as CEO.

We do not need someone as President whose loyalties do not lie with the club. We have impressive individuals who can help steer this ship - some of them are on the board now. We do not need someone who flippantly suggested we be relocated and merged on two separate occasions. He has not had the best interests of this club at heart and has only recently found his own ego big enough, and bored enough, to think he is the best thing for an afterthought like the MFC.

He is toying with our club right now and some are falling for it.

Jackson is the person to run the MFC but the patrons - the board - will be Demons.

I am not about to let the ship be steered by a Hawk.

I don't like bullies. Is that enough information? A personal opinion, based on personal experience with him. It's beyond a joke that he's the face of Beyond Blue.

We need the best demon ? Rubbish...We need the best person. Neeld wasnt a Demon before 2011. Daniher wasnt a Demon before he was. Whilst its fair and reasonable to suggest most members in a position to be influential and board members ( or more ) there are some who come to the club late.

Jackson wasnt a Demon a couple of months ago. There is no logic or sense in limiting the search for leaders to "just demons" thats what weve done..and this is where we are.

Red..et al.. I dont particularly care for any grandstanding whether it be JK or anyone but there is an indisputable fact currently. The board are in essence a caretaker board. Everyone is on notice in this club save the CEO. As in politics its beholding upon the current board to make NO far reaching decisions. They can not make decisions that go beyond their own current term, not now, not in our current predicament.

Once the dust has settled , once a new (or revised ) board is empowered, once they have a mandate from US,....then such decisions can be made.

Id be mad as hell if anyone lumps us with anything just because its they could or thought it best...atm.

PJ has called it....all bets are off, off til he says so.

I probably dont like the way JK has reminded all of this but there is an element of reality about it. Like it or not

or if its Geoff Freeman then thats great too but I want the best I dont care who

I want to see My kids follow the same club I do and be proud

but I am happy to look at anyone who is prepared to help MFC become strong and be feared again

I may be making an obvious point here, the board are unpaid. Doing a love job basically. I really doubt that people outside of the club are going to want to volunteer to help the club out as though we are some sort of charity. I'd question anyone's motives for doing this including Kennett considering his track record. More to the point what does it say about MFC members that would like him on the board? The bloke wanted the club to relocate or fold a couple of years ago & now he wants us to vote him in. It's a slap in the face, I'd be too proud to ever vote for that [censored] considering what he has said about the club in past. He can go get F'd.

Who ever can resurrect the good old MFC will become a folk hero. That alone will appeal to some.

Somefolk like challenges.

We are footy's Everest !!

Geoff Freeman will, i hope be our next President. Not a self serving, headline grabbing, egotistical [censored].

Kennett would fracture the club even more than it is now. God help us...

It's an unpaid role as Bonkers said.

Don't throw a coach or a CEO at me and tell me it is the same thing.

Ultimate direction of the club is the domain of the Board and loyalists are a must.

If anyone out there would like to renounce their allegiances to any other club and tie themselves with the MFC then they can be considered. But this is not the place for independence.

And, again, the most important position is the CEO and he is an AFL paratrooper. We have what we so desire - an outside voice charged with running the club that has AFL approval and support.

Agree with this, his actions show that.

Go and put your blazer on sunshine.

The thing I'm looking for most from a President besides the obligatory experience and nous is passion for the club to succeed.

I agree player/CEO is not the same thing, but I don't agree that money is the only possible factor that could overcome any conflict created by "barracker allegiance". How big a conflict would that be really and why does money neutralise such a thing?

We are looking for a proud professional.

I quote Peter Jackson below:

"I think that Melbourne being the centre of the universe for AFL footy. Its a big challenge. Its a founding Club. Its a proud Club. I think that people will want to come here and get it back up where it should be. The whole of the competition want Melbourne up and about. The AFL want Melbourne up and about. No-one wants this footy club down where we are at the moment. So people will get behind it and we will make it work."
"Ive been asked numerous times today How will we entice anyone here?. Easy. Its the biggest and best challenge in football at the moment and there are a lot of people out there who like those sort of challenges. Fundamentally thats why I am here. I cant say no to a challenge. So there will be others who will say the same thing."

I was never a fan of his politics, but Jeff offers something that we simply don't have - a voice that people will listen to. He's clearly up for the challenge and wants to get his hands dirty. I don't see too many people stepping up to fix the mess we're in. If he's a willing candidate, I'd be up for letting him rattle the cage. Yes, he can be unpredictable, but he will demand results, not mediocrity. He won't stand for the utter garbage we're serving up right now. And given his ego, he won't want to preside over a club that is failing - that could be a powerful thing. We have played it safe for years, why not think outside the sqaure about such an appointment?

Don McLardy is a very good man and has worked hard for the club. I'll never forget the wonderful support he showed Jimmy. But it's time for him to step aside as the club seeks to rebuild...again.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
