Report: MLB suspends 20 for performance drugs

ESPN is reporting that Major League Baseball will seek to suspend about 20 players connected to the Miami-area clinic at the heart of an ongoing performance-enhancing-drug scandal, possibly within the next few weeks. The players include New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez, currently on the disabled list, and Ryan Braun, the Milwaukee Brewer outfielder named the National League's most valuable player in 2011. Both ESPN and the Associated Press reported the clinic's founder, Anthony Bosch, has agreed to talk to Major League Baseball about players linked to performance-enhancing drugs. After a game Tuesday, Braun said he was done talking about the clinic and that "the truth has not changed," according to the AP. Yankees manager Joe Girardi said the team had no comment.

MLB sanctions for these players if found to have used PEDs is expected to be 50 games.

This is equivalent to 7 matches in AFL or about a third of a season.

If recent history in Baseball is anything to go by these same players will return to multi million dollar contracts, with several possibly reoffending within 3-5 years.

If found guilty a second time their penalty doubles to 100 games or 2/3rds of one season.

Again they then return to huge money contracts.

I would suggest MLB penalties are akin to receiving 1000 lashes with a feather.

ESPN baseball commentators, many who are ex-players are expressing disbelief at the leniency those found guilty receive, especially those who have reoffended.

Get rid of Essendon because of their supplement intake will that include Trengrove and and a fews other Dees,just what the dees need.

Much thought has been put into your'e article;just kidding.Think about this:- possible draft sanctions and loss of premership points for the Dons and the Dees in 2014.

The dons will recover in a year or two, the Dees will become extinct as a victorian side.......bring back the do do bird.
