Dank involved at Demons?

Should get a staement fromn the club within the next half hour

What if he was never employed by the Club and everything he provided or advised, was checked by the Doctor, ok under the WADA code and done through him. Then the statement is 100% accurate.

Is it not possible he was advising on the use of legal supplements, to be supplied through one of his connections and was never employed by the club?

No lets just sack everyone, without giving them the chance of reply.

Then why not say that? Lying by omission.

Didn't he organise times to meet the players? i'd say that's direct contact.

What u mean ? this is the first anyone has heard of it

Not trying to offend, but it may be the first time you have heard of it, but it's been out there in one form or another since early February.

As many others have suggested, it's the fact that the club tried to play it cute by stating that Dank had not 'officially' been employed by the club, yet he was clearly working with, or at the very least advising, the club.

Maybe Scwab can come back to do the press conference for Don tomorrow, so we won't look quite as stupid.

Took the words out of my mouth Redleg, I will await the clubs reply!

I'd sack the doctor and whoever was involved in any form of cover up to the AFL. If that's the whole football department they then can all go.

its quite clear reading all the comments thanks

Craig knew, Misson knew

What if it's Bate's fault?

I know he was a whipping boy, but surely we can't put this on Matthew Bate.

We should blame Jack Watts or Garry Lyon.....

"High performance with high integrity".

I always start getting edgy when I hear people talking like this. Why the need to invoke integrity? I'd like to think that it's taken as a given.

No, he arranged times for the players to go the pharmacy. There's no evidence (yet) that Dank was there or administered the injections.

STEVE DANK TO DAN BATES (male voiceover): "When will we start Jack Trengove on the AOD?"

DAN BATES TO STEVE DANK (male voiceover): "Tomorrow. Where can I get him to pick it up from?"

STEVE DANK TO DAN BATES (male voiceover): "The Pharmacy. Tell him to ring me and he can meet me there."

To be fair, there is no evidence that this meeting actually took place. As it stands, the texts imply that it did, though.

Let's hope Trengove wasn't that stupid!

*edit* oh and FYI, I believe that AOD is the substance that it is being reported that ASADA are trying to pin on Essendon...

"A half-truth is often a great lie".

I wasn't worried about any of this, until i saw the AFL tweets about wanting an explanation. Surely we would have fully disclosed all contant with Dank, innocent or not once the Essendon stuff came out. Even worse, what if the CEO / board didn't know about it.

What, are you for real?

If you are asked a question and you answer it truthfully, then according to you, unless you volunteer other matters, you have lied.

If all of the allegations in the 7:30 report are true, the coaching, fitness and medical staff need to be replaced, pronto!

The club's statement has distanced the MFC from these actions and placed the responsibility squarely on Dr Bates. This is a complete cop out and those involved need to be held to account.

Thanks for the laugh!

Early start tomorrow, so bedtime for me. I'll wake up in the morning to realise its all just a bad dream!

Yeah, goodbye coaching/fitness group

At the moment being a Melbourne supporter is like being in the eye of a cyclone. With all the chaos going on around us, having no control on it's direction, i'm actually calm because being surrounded by chaos is all we know. It's our normal.

The club's statement has distanced the MFC from these actions and placed the responsibility squarely on Dr Bates.

I dont see a statement anywhere?

Didn't he organise times to meet the players? i'd say that's direct contact.

First, my post is in reference to us saying he was never employed by the club.

Second, what if the SMS messages are fake or he never actually met the players?

Third, how is it direct contact witht the players if the SMS is to a Doctor and he then never got to meet the player?

What, are you for real?

If you are asked a question and you answer it truthfully, then according to you, unless you volunteer other matters, you have lied.

Haha you must be a lawyer, yes?

How must our players feel. They all knew they were sitting on a ticking time bomb. What lies could the power brokers at Melbourne told them? Oh don't worry about the AFL they wont find out? Or we cleared it when them don't worry. I can certainly understand some reason for their insipid performances. They've been lied to continuously.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
