Truth be told, it's damn close to our best side.

I will be majorly, majorly [censored] off if we lose this one. Zero excuses this week. It needs to be a solid win.

Relax, weve got this.....

I'm gonna need confirmation from cowboy on that.

Best side we have fielded in a long, long time.

Not that that means much.

Me too...Cowboy...are you there?

Very big 'ins' (208,203,196). Ins don't get much bigger than that. Ever.

Spot on. Absolutely no excuses this week. None at all.

Go Dees

The club needs a win this week like no other week i can recall. Loosing this week would be worse than loosing rd 1 after jimma's passing

I expect Jamar to play better this week now that he has some genuine support instead of part-timers who don't really know how to ruck (or even jump off the ground).

With respect to Watts, I'm very much in the minority, but I could see that he might benefit more from being forced to watch the WCE game, hopefully in the company of a coach to point out specific issues during the game, than run around in an inferior team. I don't see much benefit for him playing at Casey other than making up the numbers for that team. The idea that he "needed" a game doesn't make sense when clubs monitor loads and he can do more during the week with respect to fitness, skills, gameplan and education than the two and a bit hours spent in the 2s.

And I'm bemused that we'd pick a squad with Jamar, Spencer , Gawn, Sellar and Pedersen. Surely we'd never play all five, let alone four. So, is there a chance that one of Jamar or Gawn won't play?

I watched the replay of the west coast game and noticed he did a lot of shepherding and such in the F50, and did put a fair amount of pressure so maybe that's what is keeping him in.

Wow... !!! So in keeping with our current obvious culture....Getting a Kick and maybe occasionally laying a tackle is not exactly the best way to earn a game next week ???

I look forward to seeing how terlich and watts go, they should both have every chance of getting good possessions playing off half back, although i'd much rather see watts at CHF

"WATTS" This ??? "every chance of getting possessions playing off half back" ??? Where the hell do you think he has been playing ??? haven't seen the "possessions" yet ..... Give us a break !!! Jack needs time in the twos and getting "possessions" against a weak team such as GWS will do nothing towards proving he is an AFL Footballer...

Dont want to make this a Jack Watts thread but I wonder why they havent played him on a wing where he can drift back and forward to provide the extra man in defence and an additional target up forward. He does seem to have pace and does have an excellent sense of creating space. If his teammates looked for him and worked off him he could perhaps get his confidence back and regain his skills which have been so noticeably affected

Because he gets tagged.

He needs to pull his finger out and f@cken run! run! run!

Whats even more annoying is toumpas wont line up for casey..

If Toumpas (or Watts, etc...) are the 23rd best player in the squad in regard to the coming game then they should be the emergency. Why would we bring in the 26th best when we have a better player available? We are in the business of winning AFL games (well we should be).

Final team -

Ins - Watts, Gawn

Outs - Sellar, Toumpas

We need one more. Spencer?

Yep, Toumpas Sellar and Spencer are the listed Emergencies.

Our treatment of Toumpas has been terrible and it continues. What are our development plans for players? What is going on at this football club?

How does Watts put in two shockers, get dropped, not play anywhere and then return straight away?!

Poor Jimmy, he must be a bit disheartened and probably pretty confused. Especially when guys like Sylvia get selected week in week out.

This week has reminded me of BH's line - this club gives me nothing.

Maybe the kid needs a break........

Maybe Jack needed a mental break......

Don't think Jimmy's treatment has been terrible......He's just 18 and needs to be eased in to AFL footy, to continue to play him might have been worse for him......

I know the club has been down but not everything is a bad decision......

Perhaps, like Watts, his 'training form and attitude' were perceived to be down a bit.

Seems this is deemed to be best resolved by a weekend on the pine.

I wonder if the treatment of Toumpas may be the development issue that Neeld and todd viney are rumoured to be butting heads over?

Did you see who won the NAB cup? And who came runner up? And how are those teams going now?

Pre season is fairy floss competition, it has nothing at all to do with the real stuff. Toumpas was getting a kick in the NAB cup.

I did see Watts' per season, not once did I see him impact an aerial contest with any vigor. Nor did he all of last year, and nor did he rounds 1 and 2. Yet he waltzes back in like king dick.

If you're happy moving forward with players that have no intensity and get a free ride, well enjoy another 10 years of failure.

Why take such a negative approach? Maybe its all about getting his mind right, i dare suspect that is possibly why he was re-selected....... seeing how much it hurt not playing either game last week.

FWIW, and file under "unconfirmed", but was wondering why he wasn't listed anywhere:

"The reason Dom Barry was not named at Casey this weekend is because he is under a club imposed ban. He got home at 5am after the North Ballarat game."

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
