WHO ARE WE AGAIN?

Featured Replies

I actually don't mind the "Ins". At the moment we have no run - Bail, Evans and Jetta can help there (ever so slightly). Tapscott was a monty after 6 goals in VFL, and Pederson is miles better than Gillies (then again that's not saying much).

Watts is a pea heart and career officially at the crossroads. Disappointed Jamar stays. Blease very stiff.

No, we're desperate for players who are going to work hard for 100 minutes.

According to Burgs & Slattery, Sylvia has a good work rate. What are they watching?

Data.

Top, top answer, I think that is the selection criteria for this week, apart from Gawn all ins the best at Casey last week

Data.

So Sylvia has stuck his GPS on the back of Vineys!

Was Pederson in Casey's best last week? If not how is he back?

11 marks and 20 possies in the backline. Provided good chop out and drive apparently. Warrants call up I think

He was supposedly solid in defence.. Only ducked 12 times!

Benson you just fixed my humour bypass, me and lovely lady sitting on couch reading this and live chat trying to figure as well.....then u spoilt it with Pedersen, he went back with flight at least 3 times last weekend, he has got the message

I agree Satriconhome

Gawn really needs more time at Casey before we throw him to the wolves as you suggest.

Never thought I would see the day I was happy to see Bail in the team.

In the past at least he has the ability to get the ball something sorely missing the last two weeks

He was supposedly solid in defence.. Only ducked 12 times!

Craig made the point that he took a couple of marks backing into packs.

Pedersen has shown he can play, and showed it again last week, albeit at a lower level. We can but hope that that transfers to the big stage.

IN: Rohan Bail (Clean Shaven), Luke Tapscott (Stubble, but not a "Kelly"), Neville Jetta (CS), Cam Pedersen (CS), Michael Evans (CS)
OUT: Tom Gillies (big Kelly Job), David Rodan (CS, but), Sam Blease (CS), Jack Watts (huge Kelly unit) , Daniel Nicholson
(Stubbly)

There's still quite a bit of stubble about but the Infamous Aussie Bushranger Look has gone.

So we've dropped Watts but he isn't named at Casey, how is he meant to improve?

I can only see one ruckman in that team but yes he is useless

I don't see a ruckman, I see a statue.

Cox will dominate like you wouldn't believe.

I am considering putting him in as Captain in my DT.

Not quite, GA will absolutely have a field day against the lions on current form.

The live chat thing on the mfc website never works for me (doesn't show my posts). Could someone ask how far off Strauss is?

I hope all the outs feel hurt. Hurt that they dont get to make amends after one of the worst defeats in the history of the game. Accept you were part of it, you cant change that but you can change the future.

by the way im rapped that Nev Jetta is back in the team

its a joke he wasnt in there for Round 1

Have you considered that being dropped from the senior team may not be the worst thing that happens to a MFC player at present?

For anyone complaining about Blease being dropped, he had about 2 possessions last week.

Yeah I get your point. A bit like winning the last federal election. That said I hope it hurts that they were dropped from one of the worst performing teams in the history of the game.

Colin Sylvia & Sam Blease both had 7 possessions each against the bombers.

you lot really do amaze me.. nothing but Watts sledging, then he gets dropped and everyone is critical of the selection.

He has obviously been asked to achieve something on field.. getting 2 kicks was obviously not that thing. I feel there is a hint of a statement in Neeld - the statement is 'yeah we're going bad but what can I do when these so called elite performers are simoly not having a crack'

I for one am happy every time I see an underperforming player actually get disciplined at this club, we have had players coasting with impunity for the better part of 15 years. The next trick is making sure he doesn't just automatically stroll back in next week. I want three performances that prove he is a cut above VFL, then he can come back.

As others have mentioned though, Sylvia should be gone, as should Jamar, who I hold personally responsible for about 80 points scored against us last week.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
