thaipantsman 180 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Did yu see the address by Neeld before bombers clash. LAME!
Cheap Seats 3,310 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Hate to admit it but Lloyd's hit the nail on the head. It's the lack of answers, or at the very least, any effort to search for the answers then implement them, that's the biggest concern. Together with the sense that we're not getting the whole story. If you're just not good enough, you get smashed by maybe 70 or 80 points. But you don't get totally obliterated by 150 unless there are serious problems within the club. I think you're spot on about that point Akum. I don't think the players we've brought in are the big problems - it's bloke who have been there for a while now just taking their pay check and not giving a [censored] about the place. There are a lot of unanswered questions Blokes like Sylvia, Jamar etc should be showing a lot more leadership then they do.... it's a bloody sad state of affairs
Strafford 182 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Welcome to 'land Strafford and good post. Yep. Whilst I believe that players won't generally say anything when they're involved at a club, I'm a little surprised that we haven't heard more about the players stance immediately prior to '186'. We've heard bits and pieces, hearsay and lots of innuendo but no actualities. Most of us believe the commonly held belief but if that is true, then there has to be residual effects. 8 players are gone from the club who played that day. A certain 'silence' can pervade footy clubs even after the event. It's like there's a pact to say nothing publicly. Someone might say something one day. We've only had one legitimate win since that day. Thanks mate. They should have cut the CEO as well unfortunately. Any incoming coaching regime really needed clean air to take a fresh look at the list without any baggage. I doubt that any of the parties involved were entirely blameless and you can't have the inmates running the asylum and all that, but I honestly think it would have been for the best.
Dr. Gonzo 24,468 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 I don't suppose McKenzie dropping out one minute before the game had anything to do with a lack of pressure on the Brownlow medallist... Oh that's right, there must have been a heap of teams who had trouble holding Watson to low figures in 2012 Lets see what's the difference between having trouble holding him to low figures and having no one with 5 metres of him for the whole game applying any pressure?
DemonWA 3,941 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Did yu see the address by Neeld before bombers clash. LAME! It wasnt just lame, it was quiet and boring!
45HG 1,559 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Lloyd was spot on. It doesn't require hope, it requires some analysis of the problems. Ie why didn't they listen to Neeld re Watson? What was his actual plan to stop Watson? It's one thing to say "stop Watson" - an entirely other one to say how to do it.

Stand next to him at stoppages, follow him round the ground, hunt him with speed and aggression. It's not rocket science.

beelzebub 23,392 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 My 5c re GL If he doesn't want to or indeed feel he had the capacitu. So be it. It is not incumbent upon hint or any individual to fix the club. The club needs to fix the club utilising the democracy of interested folks to enable this. We continually seem to wait for some demi god to arrive whether be player or club leader to take us out of the wilderness . Doesn't work that way. ALL the best companies and clubs thrive when they instigated best practice SYSTEMS . Ours is obviously stuffed. Lets fix it.All else will follow imho.
armstrong35 262 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Don't shoot the messenger. I have heard from friends within the mfc and they have said the schwab is driving the club to the ground so we have no choice but to merge. A friend of Travis Cloke has also said the Dawes regrets leaving because the boys do not want to train and some don't even show up.

Mono 460 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 As ever, MFC lacks leaders. There are no ex-players of note who can help lead this club eg Dunstall. Lyon can go jump - gutless. Remember, it was payments largely to him that were the cause of our salary cap breach in the late 90's (correct me if I am wrong). One way Garry; take take, not a lot of give. Can his picture be removed from the DL banner? Jones would be a good replacement.

I've heard some ridiculous comments on these forums as of late but this one is in the top three. Armstrong please refrain from posting if you are going to dish up this unsubstantiated crap. Boy, they are coming out of their holes now.

I agree jones bleeds for the club, Garry would rather be on a second rate garbage footy show rather than help the club that made him famous, i have massive respect for James Brayshaw, boot dollars Gary off the banner.RR should start a poll on it.

DemonWA 3,941 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Looks like Garry Lyon has joined Range Rover's revolution, not doing anything proactive or supportive of the club until they start winning again!

Did anyone see Gary as a natural for a media career after football? Right place right time with Ian Johnson at the club. One of our big problems with ex players is that premierships bind them to a club. Some of our old premiership players still get together on a regular basis, if you don't have that bond it is so much more difficult. The best thing I saw on TV last night was the Open Mike with Mathew Scarlett, I watch these occasionally but only with passing interest because we know most of the back story. Because Mathew rarely speaks it was a fascinating insight not only to him but a little bit on Geelong as well. He certainly spoke out at the time when the media were on 'Bombers' back and rang Mike to say he would walk if he was sacked. Very interesting story for those who think the players should stick to playing and are not influenced by what goes on in the club.
iv'a worn smith 1,979 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Jason Dunstall, Dermott Brereton, David Koch. High media profiles, but commit to their footy clubs. So tell me again Garry. What's the problem? Sorry, if you gave your reasons last night, I must have missed them, because from what I recollect, you said very little about the MFC that had any substance.

Forget about Lyon, he is only interested in himself. We need a new leadership group, but Schwabs saviour has no desire or place to be in it IMO.

iv'a worn smith 1,979 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 He's said before many times he's not cut out for it. Makes sense, he was about as animated as a cardboard cut out last night. If Garry is not cut out for it, then he should stop the Chinese whispers behind the scenes, which he does engage in. Fair dinkum, a former captain of the club, in modern history and doesn't want to be involved with the very place that gave him his launching pad into media "stardom"?
