Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

G. LYON - FOOTY CLASSIFIED

Recommended Posts

All in all a nothing show from Garry Lyon. Had nothing to offer, and it pains me to say that Loydy probably backed us more than he did by suggesting it wouldn't be a good idea to sack Neeld, that if we had won the game no one would be mentioning having a camera in for the pre-game speech (like Port Power) etc.
Ultimately what i take from it, Garry Lyon has now virtually wiped his hands of the Melbourne Football Club.
"someone else do something"- Garry Lyon.
You are out Garry, so stay out now and let "someone else" do something without you interfering for the "heroics/ego boost" it brings to you.

No answers and no explanations from Garry. Like everyone else at the footy club. Too hard basket. No idea.

Anyone still convinced we don't need outside assistance has got rocks in their head.

Garry's not at the footy club. He always makes that clear. Blame dodger.

Though he did say "no one who's not at the club day to day has any idea about the clubs workings".... Maybe take that on board RR.

I don't suppose McKenzie dropping out one minute before the game had anything to do with a lack of pressure on the Brownlow medallist... Oh that's right, there must have been a heap of teams who had trouble holding Watson to low figures in 2012

Lloyd was spot on. It doesn't require hope, it requires some analysis of the problems. Ie why didn't they listen to Neeld re Watson?

That could be Robbo's million dollar question

Can you sack an entire playing list?

The scoreboard says all I need to know about the club's inner workings.

That and Neeld's pre-game speech.

The vision was VERY bad. No one even remotely close to him.

There is a difference between running with a player and standing toe to toe at a stoppage

You can't argue there was any pressure on Watson all night - not sure McKenzie is the only player that could have played on him

Caro asked for CS's sacking and referred to the demoralising effects of positioning the team in the best place to receive priority picks... Well what a surprise!

Haha tanking 2013 style

It pains me to completely agree with Caro (and Rangey) but I honestly believe for us to move forward as one, then Cameron has to move on. Till then, everything else is just shuffling deck chairs

I'm not Lyon's biggest fan by any means but I'm always puzzled by people's reaction to him.

He's tried to help a few times and hasn't done a lot of good. He's not a good coach so surely no one is calling for that. In what way is he really going to be helpful?

He's learnt his lesson from trying and is going to stick with what works (the media). So as long as he has no role in any new appointments etc then this is a win for everyone.

It would appear that there's impetus ( perhaps more behind the scenes) to get rid of CS. I wouldn't be surprised if AFL help is dependent upon his removal without bring explicitly said. I'd have no problem with that. Would welcome it.

...and Gary has been reading the tea leaves, he didn't stand up for his mate at any time. Not really a surprise either.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
