I hope they don't mind me doing a little advertising on their behalf, but for any Sydney supporters, I had an email today from the nswdemons informing of an evening with Don McLardy; details of which are:

Friday 5th April, from 5pm at the King St Brewhouse, 22 The Promenade, King St Wharf (Darling Harbour)

To be completely honest OD, I do not possess a cheque book :-) I do however participate in club auctions and have purchased a number of items that when combined with memberships for myself and my son, make my contribution not less than significant. I will always give to this club and will only cease to support them when they throw that last shovel full of dirt over my cold body.

The cost of my traveling down to Melbourne with my son for round one (fares, accommodation, food etc) to support my team at the game, unfortunately reduce my ability to give much at the moment, but that is the lot of being an interstate supporter.

Probably me too hardtack but my fear is I will still be alive at the funeral of the MFC

The cheque book was a joke mate as you probably guessed.

If you are going I would love to know what is said.

I'll try to keep a record of what he says and put it up here... however, the problem I have is that purely by coincidence, before hearing about this NSW Demons night, I had already agreed to go out for a night of drinking and eating (think Bacchanalian) with colleagues from a former workplace at the very same venue (King Street Brewhouse).

As that "party" starts to happen after Don's talk, I am not sure what amount of data loss there will be due to corruption of my last remaining brain cells (James Squire beers are a bit of a weakness of mine). I'm not even sure if Don is going to be doing a stand up presentation, or if it will be something far less formal involving something as simple as chatting over a beer... maybe I should put my iPhone in dictaphone mode?

Forget the data loss looking forward to comprehensive report after recovery session completed

I'm sure you will enjoy it hardtack. From my experience Don is a great bloke, only too happy to chat about our/his beloved Dees, and a straight shooter. Ask him a question and he will give you an honest answer.

Yes DOF... I was at the Canberra meet the night before the GWS game last year and found him to be a very affable, open person. I recall meeting you very briefly (I was there with my 10 year old son and my partner).

Mate I cannot imagine being immortal too horrible to contemplate.

Imagine having to go through another 48 years like the last 48.

I think of myself as old by comparison to many on here but old is a very subjective thing.

I can guarantee you I am not ancient.

Don't get too comfortable about the MFC's long term survival.

Right now we are one of the poorest clubs, with a poor list, a $500 000 debt before the season starts and low support.

That is not a great spot to be in as an AFL team

Why not? Statistics can prove it...

Over half of the people ever born on this Earth are still living. Ergo, immortality is more likely than mortality.

Mate....10 years ago I would have agreed with you......but now I am much more confident that our club will not only suvive but it can prosper

I see that Carlton and Collwood have debts in the millions...and there are a lot of clubs worse off than us.....Slowly but surely we are becomming relevant.....Just need a few wins...

In the case of Carlton they have a couple of mighty benefactors, a good list and good support.

I don't believe the Pies have much in the way of debt that is not covered by assets, a good list and they have hugh following / support.

We are so far behind those two we cannot hear the band.

But I do agree we need wins and lots of them in 2014

I do not want immortality.

Imagine out living your Children and Grand Children what a horrible thought.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
