I like Don. A lot. But this isn't much of an update...

Update from the President

Granted, it's legal stuff blah blah, but give us something Don, we're dying here.

We are a small part of the MFC membership and the only reason "we're dying here" is because we keep working ourselves into a lather here in in these threads. I think you might find that the average member probably feels far less concerned than we do simply because they aren't in constant discussion about the issue. I think Don is doing the right thing by keeping his cards close to his chest.

I think she has. Your ordinary every day non-Melbourne supporter (and even people who aren't big footy fans) would be left thinking that the MFC of 2009 were a bunch of dispicable cheats that have put a stain on the game that cannot be removed.

The amount of people I've spoken to about the tanking issue (non-Melbourne supporters) and their comments on it clearly indicates to me that they have been affected by her articles. I haven't heard one person come up to me and say "gee that Wilson article was way off the mark".

We must be talking to different supporters Scoop because all the footy-heads I've spoken to know that other clubs - including their own - have done much the same thing and we're only in it because we happened to be standing up when the game of musical chairs stopped (Brock pressed the button on the tape-deck).

Her stories might be full of holes as we all know but the reason no-one's saying to you "her article was way off the mark" is because they know that we tanked, just like their own clubs. They don't know the minutiae like we as supporters do but they understand the bigger picture; that half the league has tanked at one time or another.

I posted more about this in the thread now started about this message.. But basically I'm just saying I would have like to have heard something encouraging.

IMO jerks like Dwayne Russell are far more damaging when he harps on about our low attendances, our irrelevant club, our terrible list, his toxic commentary and anything else he can think of.

Agreed. Public Enemy No. 1 in my book

Now now, don't be so jilted. I'm sure there's someone out there for you, it's just that it's not me. Hugs and kisses.

Because I don't think we could survive a long distance relationship.

Well, thanks for the late night dirty talk big boy, that's your attention ration for today.

Expect announcement very soon - no case to answer.

Like unpopular political decisions announced on Cup Day, look for the Pentagon to bury the announcement in the middle of the drug summit.

Not enough proof to charge us. Move on

That's great, Chook.

What info do you have that makes you so certain?

'Melbourne great', Gerard Healey pads up for the Dees in The Age this morning.

Demons' financial viability at risk, warns Healy

He re-iterates what a lot of posters have been saying on this site. A face saving agreement needs to be made behind the scenes so that all parties can move forward. that means that the AFL must not make findings against any Dees execs; to place 'life bans' or even lesser punishments is more or less the same thing and will set in train big financial losses for the Dees. Good sense on the part of the AFL should prevail to ensure that this does not happen. Well done, Gerard.

Healy is such a dick.

He's now playing the PR game for the AFL.

It's not that we had no case to answer, but it would have been irresponsible of the AFL to charge us since it'd crush the club... Spare me!

I've been certain of it for months.

There's no chance this will go any further.

But it would be nice for CIP to have a source for this.

Healy is a huge part in why we are here today. Him and Sheahan brought this up once again because it was 'never resolved' in their eyes and now he says he fears for how it will be resolved?

I just don't want to hear from him.

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
