Update on Jason Taylor?

Featured Replies

There hasn't been much said about Jason Taylor's impending move to MFC since Collingwood got upset about poaching their people back in February this year. It is my understanding that he will leave the Pies after the national draft to join us as the National Recruiting Manager.

I assume that a contract has been signed and he is definitely coming. Does anyone have anymore news on this front?

Does anyone else believe he has given us a few tips under the table for this upcoming draft seeing as how important this year of picking up guns is for us?

No. He's a true professional and will see out his contract with the Pies in that manner before joining us when he becomes available.

Over the last ten years we have been extremely poor in player selection hence our current position on the bottom.

This year I propose we try the "names in a hat" method until JT comes on board.

It is difficult to believe we could do worse.

Well I hope!

Better still, use the names in the hat to chose a Phantom Draft option from Bigfooty! thats a lot more professional ;)

.... although we could get screwed if there is a typo :(

Eddie?

The guy who held Taylor to his contract and left us in the uneviable position of moving Todd Viney down and sideways to be Head Recruiter for a year?

Yeah, we really showed him...

Funny I had the same thought rpfc

Still I think we have it covered with the "names in a hat" technique

I really hope this post is 'tongue in cheek', but just in case it's not, does 'high performance with high integrity' ring any bells?

I sincerely hope he hasn't given any 'tips' and I sincerely hope no one from the MFC has asked him.

Eddie Maguire was having a little sook about people being taken from collingwood! he needs to get over it and realise that collingwood is not immune to these things

Yeah that sounds good in practice.

If he does give us a few tips under the table, then he not the sort of person we would want put in charge of our recruitment. That would be incredibly unprofessional and a breach of his current contract. Would you trust him not to do the same to us in due course?

No, Taylor is better than that and will join us when his contract expires or before if released from the Pies earlier.

Poor Eddie !! pawwwwwwwwwwwwww Edddddddyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy !!!!!!

altogether now.... Poor Eddie !!! :)

I must fess...I kinda hope he's winked and nudged at least :)

I just hope he is the best at it.

And that includes not working for us at all until his contract begins.

We have already been burnt enough with recruiting.

thats right ...stiff upper lip stuff ...rahh rahh !! etc.

I only want whats good for us.. F*#k the rest..I really dont give a damn after all this time.

Other clubs play the game to suit and win, they also win premierships... Weve beena dumbclub, fessing up to thing s when is wasnt required and punished probaly more for stupidity than breaching any rules really.

Who gives a flying if we get something , honestly. Were Demons , therefore surely faustian rules apply.

There is so much scullduggery in this business, in this sport only a naive idiot plays totally by the rules, especially as these same said rules often screw us.

The rules arent kosher, why abide by them religiously ? ( association intended )

So what's so good about this guy?

in simple terms.. what has Collingwood got we havent

also where are they, where are we.

Often it comes down to cattle.

Moo !!

I have an uneasy feeling about heading into such a big draft for the club with the recruiting setup as it is currently. They really can't afford to fudge this year up with such a strong draft hand.

Hopefully it is not one of those things we look back on and say how the hell did this happen. Obviously they can't do worse than CC and BP, but they must do a hell of a lot better.

who's talking AFL Rules here?

I am talking Business Rules.

"Loose Lips Sink Ships" is a beauty, says it all. We must play hard ball & give nothing away.

He's not Barry Prendegast or Craig Cameron.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast Eagles

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons hit the road in Round 8, heading to Perth to face the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium. With momentum building, the Dees will be aiming for a third straight victory to keep their season revival on course. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
