One to look out for in the national draft ... perhaps at pick 45 or 65 for the Dees

A good kick - we need a few of these types. And doesn't mind it tough either according to some SA mates.

CENTRAL District's Paul Marschall

the 20-year-old running defender is attracting the interest of AFL clubs on the back of his pinpoint foot skills.

Marschall has played every league game this season and quickly become one of the most accurate field kicks in the competition.

Bulldogs coach Roy Laird says Marschall has rarely been beaten this season and is one of the best kicks in his team.

"His ball use is the highlight of his game - he's a very good kick," Laird says. "He's been very good for us to this point."

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!!!

I'm really keen on this guy. I'm really hoping we can nab him with our 4th round pick in the mid 60's.

Hoping he or Dean Towers drops to us there anyway.

Ok, I get that he is a good kick. What else is he good/bad at?

Hows his pace? Personality? Size? Footy Smarts? Workrate? Courage? ect

Paul Marschall s apparently 187cm, 80kg...not a bad size. looks to be a likely type but we've all heard that before...lol

as it says he is 20 already so you would think he would have a stronger body than others in the draft this year. It would be nice to have another good kick out of defence like watts has been this year. If watts ends up developing into a fwd and we have this guy then we would still have a good kick out of defence. go get him!

Anyone interested in seeing SANFL and WAFL games, the matches of the day in each are shown on ABC1 in the early hours of the day on Thursday and Friday mornings so they can be taped on IQ if you have that facility on Foxtel. I assume the finals will also be shown so there's a chance we can get a look at this bloke and a few others in the coming weeks.

I was always a bit of a sceptic about players from these competitions but plenty are now coming through. I saw Puopolo of Hawthorn and Jaensch (Adelaide) playing a couple of years ago in the SANFL. They looked fairly ordinary but Puopolo in particular has slotted in nicely with the Hawks.

I'll look forward to seeing Marschall in due course.

Sounds a little bit like James Strauss when we first drafted him! Everyone raved about his kicking but didn't really mention anything else.

And no, that is not a knock on Straussy who I rate very highly. Would just love to know more about Marschall as I think getting a player or two with a few more years experience at WAFL, SANFL or VFL level would be something worth looking at.

That height weight ratio will be wrong - Marschall is quite a big unit - he is a good kick and and strong. Strictly a half-bank flank or defensive winger. He is a very straight line robotic type player and whether he has the agility and ball handling to play AFL will decide whether he makes it or not and whether he gets drafted.

Don't know abour personality or workrate olisik. But from what I've heard from some friends in Adelaide he's got pretty good pace and good courage.

I rate him as a similar player to Dean Towers from North Ballarat from the limited footage I have seen of him but possibly not quite as fast given that Towers is as quick as they come.

Yes I believe we would have to consider at pick 45 or 65 for Marschall. Not just a good kick. Watch some SANFL highlights and he also can do all the physical stuff of a half back.

( Towers will go top 40 for me, with likely Cats 2nd round pick #35ish looming his likely home. Cats would see him as a perfect running half back).

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
