Just read in the HS about Steve Febey ... has gone through some very hard times after footy and the Bali bombings ... feel for the bloke ... worth a read.

Jebus. Even battle hardened AFL footballers can go through hell after an experience like that. All the best Febes.

He had a triple hit in one year which would be hard for anyone to deal with .

Good onya Feebs for coming out and talking about it.

As for the "mates" that ripped him off-it all goes around and their time will come.

Jeez it's really sad to here that he's had such a tough time since the bombings, I loved watching him play as a kid and always seemed to have a certain indestructible look about him. I must admit I had completely forgotten that he and Steve Armstrong went through that terrible tragedy, and the thought he had killed his mates by suggesting they go to Bali.

All the best to him as he picks up his life.

I hope the club are doing what they can to help him get his life back on track; these are the thing that differentiate the good clubs from the bad ones.

Looking after our own should be second nature.

not sure what we can do really, we struggle to look after ourselves financially already

Pretty deep stuff, that.

It is great that he now recognises that he has a huge problem, and great that he is now going to do something about it himself. I hope that the club will offer him all the support in every way it can. Sounds as if it could at very least offer him a focus and a "home".

Its not only financial things that matter. A feeling of self worth is often not a financial matter at all. Looking for answers is often best achieved through numbers and fellowship.

Febes could well be welcomed to Dland. As recognition that the contribution he gave is still appreciated and we could also value his insights into football. This may well be a distraction for him which could be valuable.

It is a very deep issue and one which I can only wish him all the best in handling.

He is always welcome in Beechworth where we have a diversity of pursuits and a relaxed atmosphere to undertake them.

I don't know why but I misread the title.

i thought it was about Matthew, that I'd heard was struggling, & i thought was in tassie.

Only just now did Steves name register, I realised I was thinking of the other twin.

Get well Steve, I know it's a hard road, but your worth it.

That year was a sad time for all of us, & even more tortuous for those who were closest to the tragedies.

all Australia & the World, lost part of itself thru those times.

Seems to be a time for people to choose sides, the Good creative teams, or the destructive X-ploitative teams.

I'm glad to read you've chosen to sort it. All the best Febe's.

Ironically the toughest strong willed are IMO often the ones hardest hit by the Black Dog. the softer, more able to cry,,, & laugh, are better off releasing they're tortures.

Farmers/Soldiers/Athletes/hardened competitors all.

Churchill also-though he fought with other mens lives and lost so many in WWI in Turkey that he got the sack.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

    It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.
